Anyone have a list of what they consider the greatest storytelling songs of all time? Here's one of mine..."Ode To Billy Joe." I'll name a few others later. I could also classify it as one of the most haunting songs of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsOf0aB3gx4

Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia. Walk On The Wild Side is several stories, one for each verse, actually. I'm fond of Fancy, One Piece At A Time and Boy Named Sue, too.

"Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia," is a good one...yeah, Fancy and A Boy Named Sue too. Here's one I just thought of, "Puff the Magic Dragon." I don't know how great it is, but it's a good story song.

"Cats and the Cradle" Gordon Lightfoot. That story has always stayed with me. "Fancy" for sure. In a different vein, remember "Shooting Star" by Bad Co.? It's hard to think of anything current. It's hard to find anything like that outside of Country these days. How about "Memphis" by Chuck Berry, that guy was actually a great lyricist. I've heard he needs to work on his personal qualities though.
