My friend, Steve Davis (a TAXI member) sent this song to me. I've never been a Miley Cyrus fan...afterall, I'm a bit long in the tooth to be a fan, hehe, but I LOVE her new song. It sums up exactly how I feel about my experience as a country songwriter. While not a fan of too much sap, this song works...it falls into the category of songs I wish I'd written....just gorgeous stuff:

For some strange reason I can't help but pull for her, and besides she made a hit song for a good friend of mine a couple years back.Go Miley Go!Cisko

Just a guess, but this sounds like a Diane Warren style to me.Does anyone know who wrote it?Edit: Looked it up:"Written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe Produced by John Shanks"It's from the new Disney Hannah Montana movie. Lots of songs in it.

I could play Rage Against the Machine here and ignore Miley, but it is a great song, and seems to fit what she's selling. And Galen you're right does sound like a Diane Warren ballad doesn't it?The songwriter are: Alexander, J; Mabe, J; but I don't know their first namesAndy

Yep, I like it too. And the video. It's the perfect lyric for a young singer - not too specific, not too "old" or "young", doesn't really say anything while saying everything. I like it, wish I'd written it.Claire

i thought so too. Miley's a bit too much for me, the song that she was presented with is very nice.

Thanks to my eight year old son I have been exposed to much more Miley music than I care to admit In fact, thanks to him I've sorta come 'round to respecting the way Disney presents pop music to the very young. Catchy big hooks and safe themes. This is a bit more 'adult' for Miley (I think?). And while it's a theme that's been done many times before, it's a very good song IMO.A bit more on one of the songwriters here:

I actually like this song a lot. I can totally hear Jon Shanks in the production, he's done a lot of pop songs - like Ashlee Simpson and Jewel. I actually saw Jessi Alexander perform at the Grand Ole Opry. She was quite good! I didn't realize she wrote this.

Definitely a cool song. Some of my younger students are totally into learning Miley Cyrus songs, so I imagine they'll be coming into the old teaching studio with this in mind in the coming weeks. Thanks for posting it! Suz
