IF a music convention is on-line

Don't get me wrong. I don't want the Rally to be held only on-line this year, probably no one does.

But I'm curious to see what happens this year with Sweetwater Gearfest, which will be held on-line for the first time, June 26-27

Gearfest normally has 15,000 - 20,000 attendees, in person. Not a good idea with the pandemic.

Like the Rally, most of the fun and excitement is in being there, meeting people, etc. It will be interesting to see how they do it this year.

At least parking will be easier. :)

Hello Jim,
It's not very reassuring to see that the number of people infected is on the rise in several states including California. The biggest obstacle for travelers will probably be medical insurance.

I've never had problems getting med. insurance in the past but I've shopped around just to get the pulse of the market and I haven't found any companies willing to cover the costs of hospitalization related to the virus.

I attended the online Sweetwater Gearfest last weekend. I thought Sweetwater did an excellent job of organizing & conducting it online for the first time.

They had a slew of great interviews, famous guests and useful sessions.

As expected, it didn't match the feeling you get from being there in person. But hopefully we'll be back to normal again in 2021.

It would be quite a challenge to go online for the first time this November, if the timetable is respected. I'm sure ML and his team are doing all they can to come up with a solution that may not be perfect but certainly better than no Rally at all.

Chris,

Medical insurance when traveling ... that's something I admit I haven't thought much about. But it's a good question, people would be wise to know where they stand with their insurance & Covid coverage prior to making travel plans.

Here's another thing I noticed about the on-line Sweetwater Gearfest.

When I watched it happen live on YouTube in June, there were consistently around 500-600 live viewers for each session (I don't know if there were additional viewers on Facebook).

Since then there have been a lot more views. Looking at it today many sessions have now had 20,000 - 60,000 views. Aside from this being a lot of good "PR" for Sweetwater, it's also an indicator of which sessions have been the most popular on YouTube

To see the results you can search YouTube for Sweetwater Gearfest 2020

I agree that this would potentially be a great promotion tool for Taxi. Thanks Jim!

I'm really looking forward to the on-line Rally.

Based on the "Quarantini" webcasts, it sounds like the plans are really starting to come together. :)

Me too, it will be my first rally! Great way to discover if the big travel is worth it, post-corona..

It certainly is, if you have the means for making it
