Music Business & Terminology Class

Hi all
Some of you know that every year I teach a class on music biz basics and terminology from a non-lawyer perspective.
Here is the Powerpoint from last year's class:
http://www.caseysongs.com/publicfiles/M ... y_2013.ppt
(If you don't have Powerpoint, here is a version in Word:
http://www.caseysongs.com/publicfiles/M ... y_2013.doc)
I am going to trim it some this year (it runs a bit too long) and focus it more on film/TV.
Anyway, in addition to shamelessly promoting my class here,
I am soliciting suggestions for things you would like covered, questions you would like answered, etc.
Please post your questions, suggestions for class content, etc...
THANKS!!

Casey

Looks pretty in-depth to me already, Casey. I'm surprised you can cover it all in an hour!

Hey Casey, My 1st inclination would be for you to teach a 'pay attention to your lyrics' class. You've taught me much on that subject. Maybe a short session on why some Companies have a 16 page contract and others a 3 page contract? I dunno, D.B.M.
P.S. - I will be there this year.

The class (as with all the Drivers Ed classes) is 1.5 hours. But it's still just a bit too much and I need to trim. Thanks!!

Great! It will be nice to finally meet you.
Regarding contracts, I have to keep my class from a non-lawyer perspective (given that I am not a lawyer). Yea, I know. The size and complexity of contracts varies all over the board. Often it's a matter of how much "boiler plate", protect the company against any and every eventuality is put in by that company's lawyers.
Check out the lyrics classes on the schedule when it comes out. There always are some great ones taught by some of the best in the songwriting biz.
Also, Taxi does not want us to mention specific library names on the forum so you may want to edit your post.
Warmest,
Casey
