Why attend the rally?

In addition to the classes & panels and hoping to meet industry folks, it's important never to lose sight of what for me has been the most critical part of the rally-- networking with other Taxi songwriters and artists. So many of my co-writes grew out of meeting at the rally.

Your fellow members are your best resource. While you are hoping to be "discovered" in industry folks, don't forget to discover all the other great members out there! :D

Here are three songs that only exist because of some great people I met at last year's rally. Two are already signed with good libraries, one pending review. Shout out to the lovely and talented Michelle Leverette and Spring Lovelle who I met last year! :D :D 8-)

See many of you soon!

That is an excellent point that bears repeating.

Thanks Casey! Meeting you at my first Rally has truly changed my entire TAXI experience!
Not just our cowriting, but our friendship and the many amazing people I have met through
the Rally. I am so glad I took the leap and bought that plane ticket! It was the best investment
in my career and happiness! Now, if I could figure out how to add more hours to the day for
more writing, recording, studying, forum-ing, Etc!!!!

I agree with the above, but I would add...

1. You will see that if you wake up early, shave and dress, and go about your musical work at 7:30AM, you are still a musician. Being a musician does not require garish tattoos, unusual piercings, staying up all night, partying with Slash, illicit drugs, being 25, or scaring your parents.

2. You will see that if you end up working in a facet of the music industry different from where you originally intended, or in several, that does not make you a failure. It makes you a success.

Thanks for posting this, Casey!

What you say is absolutely true... and it is important to know going in to your first Road Rally because there is SO much going on that it is easy to be overwhelmed and forget to say hi to the people around you. At my first rally I don't think I met anybody, at my second I said hi to a few folks I recognized from the board, and it wasn't until my third that I left with a bunch of new friends!

Oddly enough, I think I have only ever interacted with Casey during one of his classes... I'll have to make sure I say "hi" this year :)

Thanks, Casey! I will make sure to get out of my comfort zone and do as much networking as possible. I'll definitely have a colored circle on my badge and hopefully will get a chance to talk to all of you that I've interacted with on the forums for the last year and a half!
