Sometimes I feel like the luckiest man in the world

I'm sure sleep deprivation at the rally contributed to my overwhelming emotions but as I sat there at the rally I kept feeling like I should pinch myself to see if all the wonderful things that have happened for me are real or just a dream.

I was just a kid with a guitar who liked to make up songs from the age of about 16. You know--- girlfriend dumped me... a song.... I hate myself... a song... Unrequited love with the girl across the street... a song... You've all probably been there.

I started getting pro demos done when I was.... 45. Mid-life crisis. I didn't even know what a hook was.

Now, it's a decade later in 2010 and I'm sitting at the Taxi Road Rally surrounded by all these incredibly talented and generous people, many of whom are very successful film/TV composers... They are like family... No, they ARE family... I've heard my music on eight TV shows. Just signed a deal through Taxi... I pinch myself. I'm just a kid with a guitar.

A long time ago someone started a thread about defining success. My total royalties to date are a few hundred dollars. But from my perspective I am a success. I know all of you. I've come farther than I ever would have imagined and am just getting started.

As Anne said, "You are never too old to rock 'n roll"... Taxi proves that every day.

I pinch myself.

:) Casey

Casey,

Well said. You are indeed successful, both in leaning into your dreams, and in being such a vibrant member of this Taxi Musical Family. You are the SPARKLE that makes the Taxi community full of life! All that and DOTS, too!

I'm so glad to know you!

Big Hugs (and a pinch, in case you can't pinch yourself),
Suz
