Music Business and Terminology Basics for Newbies

Hi all (especially newbies!)

I'd like to invite folks to join me at the Rally Friday, 4:30PM. I will be teaching a Driver's Ed class:

Music Business and Terminology Basics for Newbies

If you are greener than a grasshopper (or even just a tad green around the gills), this could be the class for you.

For years, many of us on the forum including matto, crs7string, mazz, and hummingbird, and myself have been answering basic industry questions here on the forum-- stuff like copyrights, publishing, PRO's, master/sync, exclusive, non-exclusive, reversion, work-for-hire, collab agreements, music libraries, etc, etc.

So I put as much as I could into a single class that goes over most of the basics folks need to know as Taxi members and artists pitching their work in general.

I'm very excited to share all this with you! Big thanks to Taxi and the shoulders of forum giants mentioned above.

:) Casey

Casey,
Glad to see that you will be teaching a class at the RR. I will try to get to that one:)

Thanks,
Jenna

Hi all
Thank you Taxi for giving me the opportunity to teach at the 2011 rally! And thank you to those who attended my class! :D

If you are interested, here is a copy of my PowerPoint slides for my presentation:

If you don't have PowerPoint on your puter (nice alliteration! ;) ), here is another version, exported to Microsoft Word:

Another great rally!

Hi Casey!

Man, oh man, am I sorry I didn't take your class!

I'm new to TAXI ( just signed up before the Rally so that I could attend it), but I though I had a handle on a lot of the legal stuff based on what I've (lightly) read in some books. I was tempted to take your class, but chose the PRO class instead, and I can see that I would have benefit so much more from your class (by looking at your handout)! There were so many great offerings, and I went over and over the schedule many times trying to maximize my schedule, and after sharing and talking with all the great people I met, I wish I could have done some of it over again! If only we could be everywhere at once!

Best,

Juliet

I gotta say, there were a couple of classes I attended that I wouldn't have in hindsight, but even in those, I learned some really valuable stuff, some of which will become fodder for further forum discussion. ;)

Thanks for posting Casey:) I wanted to attend your class, but somehow in the midst of all the other classes, I missed it. There were so many classes to choose from. I look forward to looking through the notes you posted:)
