Thankful For My First Forward
Posted: Mon Nov 30, 2009 4:38 am
Hi everyone,
I joined Taxi in the middle of September and began my journey into writing music for libraries and specifically learning the art of writing music “for listings”. Since I joined, along with non-stop writing, I have been lurking on these discussion threads every day, listening to the songs that get forwarded, reading through the business and production advice, and generally taking in all of the good vibes and positive thoughts offered up here each day. Although I have never been active on an internet discussion group before, I had every intention of introducing myself to this group once I got my website together, or at least once I got some info on my Taxi page.
Well, imagine my surprise (and good fortune!) to get my first Forward before I got around to doing those other things! After nine returns, each of which provided excellent and informed criticisms of production quality and assessments of style (even the screeners for the Yes/No listings offered up an unexpected amount of useful advice) I was thrilled to open my email on Wednesday to find that one of my submissions was forwarded.
So I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and to thank all of you for the help and inspiration that you have provided so far. I’m at the very beginning of this adventure and I’m looking forward to getting to know some of you and being able to share in our forwards and learn from our returns.
The listing I got the forward for is:
INSPIRATIONAL/UPLIFTING INSTRUMENTALS needed by a very successful Production Music Library who has placements with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, Disney, Discovery, Lifetime, Fox, USA, etc. Instrumentals can be orchestral arrangements, simple/acoustic piano or guitar pieces, lilting/playful Alt Country/Singer-Songwriter tracks, etc. Overall tone must be heartwarming, inspiring, and/or uplifting. TAXI #D091118IN
The song is “Best Of Days” and can be heard on my Taxi Page:

Sincerely,
Mark Meilander
Note: I wanted to post this last week, but it took through the holiday weekend to get my forum account set up. Since then I have noticed in the “Taxi Review” section that some excellent compositions were returned on this listing, so I am feeling extra fortunate!
