RENAISSANCE & MEDIEVAL SONGS are needed by an LA-based Music Library headed up by veterans of that industry. Great performances are essential. Male or female vocals are OK, if applicable, but purely instrumental performances are acceptable as well. They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal - you keep your original copyrights. Broadcast quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics if applicable. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Apr. 17, 2008. TAXI #Y080417WOI saw this listing when it first came out and thought, "I should definitely submit to that," because I got forwards on my two medieval-sounding Christmas songs a few months ago. Then time went by, and I didn't notice the deadline until about two days before it was due. I sat down and put this together in about two hours - composing to recording to mixing to submitting! It's my little $8 tin whistle, the ukulele patch on my Yamaha PSR-2100 and a folk tambourine, plus a little help from Sonar.Courtly Dancehttp://
www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=122489&stream=1And I just got the forward notice! So yay ... (sigh).Am I a bad person for not appreciating this forward as much as I should? It's just that this stuff comes so EASY for me, and I'm having success with it ... but I really want to get somewhere with my rock/pop and other kinds of instrumentals. My husband says if that $8 tin whistle makes us a million dollars, that's a pretty good investment. Anybody else been there?Kathleen

Great job on the song, sounds like it hit the mark perfectly.Nothing wrong with paying for a new whistle with stuff like this, while you try to write the killer rock/pop song! Besides, Jethro Tull merged rock and medieval very profitably. 2 hours is a great investment for a forward, I think?

Sounds good Kathleen!I think the likelihood that a little medieval piece will make you a million bucks is so unlikely that I wouldn't feel too guilty... Remember diversification is a good thing, so if this stuff comes easy keep doing it while also developing other avenues...

Great Kathleen, way to go! Why not have a niche like this? No telling where it might lead... And somehow it seems to be getting more popular, don't you think? I guess I'm comparing to when I was a member of TAXI in 2003-2004 and didn't see any listings like this. Have you had anything get signed yet?--Mer

My other two medieval-sounding ones went to a different library that I've not heard from yet. But, knowing now that this was the library looking for medieval tunes, I may see if they're interested in the other ones. Thanks for the input, everybody.Kathleen

Don't know if a tin whistle is considered one of the High Woodwinds, but if it is, you truly ARE the Queen...Honey, you got nothing to worry about. Just like Matt said, as long as you can get these (NOT pop/rock pieces) forwarded and can keep producing more of them to fit the listing requests...why in the world would you stop creating them AS you continue to work on that top 10 hit? ESPECIALLY if they come to you easily.Make $$ and get your foot in as many doors as possible. End of discussion, right? Congrats on a great tune and another forward.Ted
