Ok, so I had been having a rather bad day up until about 5 minutes ago when I got an email with the results from the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal listing I submitted to:NEW HARD ROCK/HEAVY METAL SONGS NEEDED by an LA based Music Publisher seeking placement for tracks in Film/Video projects. Genres can encompass everything from Grindcore, Speed Metal, Indie Metal and Death Metal. Some references would include Blood Simple, Mastodon, System Of A Down, Iced Earth, Slayer, Black Mountain, P.O.D., Deftones, etc. A representative from the company will screen these submissions directly. He splits the license fee with you 40/60 [that 60% is for you] and doesn't take any publishing. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by April 11, 2008. TAXI #S080411HRI submitted the following songs:Dark and Overcast - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... m=trueKing of Selfishness - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... =trueBlood Inside Me - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... am=trueAll 3 were forwarded with 10's across the board. Now, I'll be totally honest, I don't think all 3 of them deserve 10's across the board, but I'm not gonna complain about it Anyone else get forwards for this one? B.Flat? - Big Blue

Thanks everyone! It definitely put me in a good mood for the weekend Dan, I'm surprised that they passed on your song. Did they say why they didn't forward it? Sounds like a death metal song to me.

Yeah, I actually put an other thread up about it because I was confused...The main reasons were that 1) He couldn't understand the vocal well enough, and 2) There wasn't enough of a hook.I was under the impression that unintelligible vocals and lack of traditional structure and hooks were the hallmarks of Death Metal, but I could be wrong Congrats again though!

That's what I thought about death metal songs too. When I first saw this listing, it almost felt like the person who wrote the listing was looking for two different types of music. According to the styles listed - "Genres can encompass everything from Grindcore, Speed Metal, Indie Metal and Death Metal" - it appears they want music that is not traditionally a commercially viable type of sound. Then you look at the references they listed - "Some references would include Blood Simple, Mastodon, System Of A Down, Iced Earth, Slayer, Black Mountain, P.O.D., Deftones" - and you're talking about a different sound altogether. Especially for songs from bands like P.O.D. and the Deftones.I've only been a member since January, but I'm really seeing what some of the veterans around here have been talking about when they say one of the keys to getting forwarded is really being able to decipher what the listing person is looking for.
