Ok, so I had been having a rather bad day up until about 5 minutes ago when I got an email with the results from the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal listing I submitted to:NEW HARD ROCK/HEAVY METAL SONGS NEEDED by an LA based Music Publisher seeking placement for tracks in Film/Video projects. Genres can encompass everything from Grindcore, Speed Metal, Indie Metal and Death Metal. Some references would include Blood Simple, Mastodon, System Of A Down, Iced Earth, Slayer, Black Mountain, P.O.D., Deftones, etc. A representative from the company will screen these submissions directly. He splits the license fee with you 40/60 [that 60% is for you] and doesn't take any publishing. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by April 11, 2008. Yeah, I actually put an other thread up about it because I was confused...The main reasons were that 1) He couldn't understand the vocal well enough, and 2) There wasn't enough of a hook.I was under the impression that unintelligible vocals and lack of traditional structure and hooks were the hallmarks of Death Metal, but I could be wrong Congrats again though!

Yeah, I've been around for a little while here and thought I had gotten pretty good at deciphering the listings, but I guess it's especially hard when it appears the listing party may not be too sure what they're looking for, either!But like I said, oh well, you win some, you lose some I was honestly just surprised to find out that the person who posted the listing made the critiques, because TAXI has previously said that they don't allow that. Also, the listing stated that they would be critiqued by a TAXI screener. I know it wouldn't have made a difference in getting the tune signed by the company since he obviously didn't feel like it was right, but I still thought it was kind of strange.Dan

B.Berry...VERY nice! to be honest, I never really got the death metal genre..it was the usually the vocalist that made me scratch my head! hahaBut you nailed it...and nailed it THREE times! very cool...and the vocals are spot on for the genre.I'll tell ya, I am sick of replacing my furniture here...everytime I buy something new, I listen to these posts and start breaking it all!! I passed on this opp...been pretty busy, but have two in the oven for the classic rock cover listing.Congrats again!
