Hi there,

I'm totally new to Taxi. I got a forward for my very first submission for Y130114DA.

As i'm a total noob, I'm not too sure of the significance of getting a forward (?)

This was the brief:

'INDIE MUSIC PUBLISHING COMPANY is looking for DANCE/ELECTRO SONGS and INSTRUMENTALS in the style of Justice, Boys Noize, MSTRKRFT, etc., for a variety of Film/TV placements. Submissions MUST showcase your CURRENT production/programming skills, STRONG composition, and SOLID recording techniques. If you submit a song, be sure your lyrics are UNIVERSAL, COMPELLING, and fit within the genre. Moods can vary so long as your electronic grooves remain INFECTIOUSLY danceable. Vocal performances need to remain MODERN in the styling of the referenced artists - electronic embellishments to the vocal performance is OK, as long as its TASTEFUL. IF you submit an instrumental, be sure to keep if FORWARD MOVING and INTERESTING from START to FINISH. He is NOT looking for ethereal New Age music. Broadcast Quality needed (great home recordings should be fine). '

This was the track - Dancefloor Psychotic:

Or can be found on my Taxi page. Hope to get many more!

Jim

That's fantastic James!!!
Big congrats, a forward on the first, wow :)
Great track, I can understand why the forward.

Ok so a forward means that out of all the submissions Taxi received for this particular listing, yours was one of the chosen ones to be sent (or forwarded) to the listing party. In this case an Indie Music Publishing Company. Now if the company likes your track and would like to do business with you, they will contact you.
The best thing to do is not worry about it. The moto around here is write, submit, forget, repeat. If you keep doing that, the deals will come when it's time.

Congrats again! Best wishes,

Hi Jim, first of all, CONGRATULATIONS! Forwards are a HUGE step in the right direction. I've been a Taxi member for years now, and I still do a cartwheel of joy each time I get a forward. Oftentimes people don't know how great these are if they haven't received a ton of rejections already... But you've hit gold with this song. It's great, and if you keep up this quality of work and branch out into some different styles, you'll have a great future and Taxi will be a phenomenal resource for you to make strides into the film/tv world.

Now that your song has been forwarded - as Pedro mentioned - it's sitting on a music supervisor or library owner's desk somewhere. He/she will listen to it, and if it makes sense for their project or catalog, they'll contact you and offer you a deal. It's exciting to think about. But the best advice anyone can offer in this business (Pedro already beat me to this as well), is to just move on to the next track and opportunity. Keep writing, and - as hard as it may be - FORGET about the song that just got forwarded. If a deal comes, it comes... if it doesn't, you'll at least have another handful of songs to pitch that you've written in the meantime!

Best of luck with the future. And welcome to the forums!

~~Matt
