Beaird Music Group or any Vanity styled demo studio

I have recorded 2 CD's as a bandleader. The first was 10k in CA.
The 2nd was 4k in Philly.
I have several forwards here at Taxi after a 2 month membership.
I see these studios in Nashville liek The Bearid Group where a publisher will hear your
songs "IF" you record with them. Publishers like Bug Music...etc.
So have you guys ever gone this route? what is your take on "record with us and we'll
let you pitch to a publisher" Is it worth it? I mean if you are recording a CD anyway,
and it is costing you 3-4k anyway in your buddy's basement why not?
