I have been involved in music for 40+ years primarily as a church/worship musician. I do have a minor in music with my BS degree but I have not really tried to write music until recently. I only started writing music after some encouragement from some fellow musicians and singers. What should I expect from these forwards? BTW the forwards have been CCM, Country and Blues. In my work a day world I can quantify success easily whereas in this realm I am a bit perplexed. Thanks for any advice and comments.

Thanks for any advice and comments.Hey, Bayou.Welcome to the boards, and congrats on such a high rate of forwards in such a short amount of time. In my eyes, that's already a fair measure of success. And FWIW, it took me 15 months to get 14 forwards. The best thing for you to do right now is to forget about those forwards for now and keep writing and submitting more music to more listings. And start praying for patience. This business moves at a glacial pace...so just take heart in knowing that your music made it past the screeners and is now in the hands of the people who actually make the decisions. That's a huge step in the right direction. There are stories upon stories on these boards about how a forgotten-about forward from 2 years ago has suddenly turned into a deal, and 10 times as many about forwards we NEVER hear anything back on.The mantra around here goes something like this.Write. Submit. Repeat.Say a quick thank you and then start chanting the above statement. And then follow your mantra.Again, congrats. And stick around...Ted

Hi Bayou, 14 forwards in 4 months is a great track record. I have been a taxi member for a while and will tell you what I've been told - it can take anywhere from days to months to hear back on a forwarded piece. Not to be discouraging about the time lapse; its just the way the business works. So, do what Ted says in his message - write, submit, repeat - and with that many forwards you'll start hearing back soon.

That's awesome!!!Definitely enjoy the success of that, while keeping in mind that as others have said...it could take awhile to hear anything. Just start / keep writing more material. Just my humble opinion. Congrats!Charlie

Hey Bayou - 14 forwards, that's really great! Looks like you've got some awesome advice from the well-informed folks here. Most common advice seems to be to just forget those forwards. I know it's hard, and I'm learning how myself (I don't have anywhere near 14 forwards though), but once you've moved to the next project/song, it's not too hard to forget the previous ones. Hopefully before you know it you'll be reminded about them, in a very good way. Best of luck,-AR
