Act Lightivity

Post by dabresk » Fri Jan 18, 2008 2:56 pm

S071228INThe Owner of a Music Production Library is currently seeking a wide variety CORPORATE/ BUSINESS INSTRUMENTALS (no vocals) across ALL GENRES for use in film/TV/commercials, etc. This style is also known as "Light Activity" instrumentals: positive-sounding tracks that evoke intensity, productivity, victory, and pride. Prominent melodies are not required and all tempos are OK. This production music veteran signed many TAXI writers to his previous company, and wants to repeat that same type of success with this venture as well. He needs tracks with button endings - no fade-outs.I had fun with this one. For me, it is sometimes hard to be light with my musical activity, but I guess they thought that it hit the spot. I need work on engineering/production. That seems to ring true on a lot of my forwards. Any critiques would be appreciated.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... trueThanks!

nice track! congrats....As far as production advice, it seems the tune is a light on the low end side. What you could do is grab a song that you like from a "pro" cd and check it out with the eq on winamp or a plugin on your studio (if you have that). You can quickly compare what frequencies your mix is deficient in and then start to figure out what can be adjusted. It could also just be that you are "outgrowing" your tools. Without know what it was recorded on, software synths, etc...tough to really say.But the most important thing...you got the forward!

Thanks B Flat...I composed the Tune on Reason, exported each track to Cubase, added tracks with EWQL and my Alesis QS8. From there, I used the tools from Cubase and Ozone 3 for mastering. I agree, the low end suffered, and much of my material has that issue. My orchestral stuff seems fine, but once I get to the music that requires drums and bass, I have a harder time. It seems after I master it (adding compression etc) I seem to lose that fullness. I don't profess to be a recording pro, so any advice is appreciated. Any one know of any good books, DVD's etc to get me in the right place? I subscribe to Recording mag and that helps. There is an article in this month's mag that talks about this very issue (the "loudness" or "fullness" issue. So, I am going to continue playing around. I will also post in the other Taxi group that deals with these kinds of issue. Thanks!
