Hi everyone,
My name's Dave and I joined Taxi in September. I've been writing songs for years, but I only discovered Taxi a few months ago and have recently started writing instrumental cues. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that I had 2 forwards from my first 3 submissions.
This one is called Facing the enemy
https://soundcloud.com/5barimp/facing-the-enemy
for the following listing:
Y161027TC

TENSION-BUILDING INSTRUMENTAL CUES (Minimal to Larger arrangements) are needed by a large TV Production Company's Non-Exclusive, In-House Music Library for a bunch of placements in a really popular Reality TV Show. They're looking for fresh, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Tension Cues that could work well for Reality TV Shows. Quoting the source: "Light Tension, ranging to more dramatic, cinema style Tension Cues could all work. Cues should start lightly and build throughout their duration, and climaxing on the final chord with a natural decay. No faded endings. Open to any arrangement as long as it's tasteful. Arrangements that could work for this: Orchestral, Orchestral Hybrid, acoustic guitar with light percussion, solo piano, piano with strings, etc."Your submissions should be at least 1:30 minutes long. Good edit points and non-faded/buttoned endings will work best. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artist's music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal. You'll split any applicable sync fees 50/50. You'll get 100% of the Master rights and Writer's share, and the Library will get 100% of the Publishing for any placements they generate. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please submit 1-3 Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Company - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, October 27th, 2016. TAXI #Y161027TC

and this one is called A noise in the dark

for this listing:

DARK, CREEPY UNDERSCORE INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a successful Music Library that gets lots and lots of Reality Show placements. They're looking for eerie Underscore Instrumental Cues that you'd typically hear in shows like American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Scream Queens, etc., etc., etc. Quoting the source: "We are looking for music for our 'Eerie/Horror' library album. Instrumentals only and at least 2 minutes long. Music must work to build fear and discomfort. Tracks that gradually build to a scary climax are particularly useful!" Give them sinister sounding Cues that would compliment a scary scene or scenario well. Your submissions should focus on a tension-inducing melodic motif, while layering different instruments/elements to keep your Cues forward moving and interesting. Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, and an 80/20 split in the Writer's favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! Please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016. TAXI #S161115CU

Both are really good pieces. I can see why TAXI forwarded them. And I look forward to hearing about more forwards in the future :D

Hi Russell,

Thanks for that. I'm particularly pleased with these 2 forwards as I've been writing songs for many years, but have only recently started doing instrumental cues. And I feel that it's mainly due to the encouragement and advice that I've found on Taxi TV and the forums that has given me the confidence to branch out in a new musical direction. So far it seems to be paying off - let's hope it stays that way :D

Thanks again,

Dave Owen,

Thanks Al,

I'm not sure what to expect regarding the forwards, but I'm guessing it might be a long time before I hear anything. I think the best idea would be to forget about those two for a while and see if I can repeat my success in the next listings :D
