I recently posted on the forum about a Calliope track that was returned without a critique.I got some very good feedback and suggestions and observations from a bunch of folks. (Aub, Matto,Hummingbird)Shortly thereafter another Dispatch listing for Calliope music popped up.Armed with these new insights I developed a new track.I did a little research first and listened to some calliope stuff on line.Just recieved an email that it was forwarded. The forum does work, especially if you don't get emotional about your work and can step back and analyze the music you are getting advice about. Here's the track:Cotton Candy:
http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ream=1This also marks my 50th forward. ChuckBTW All of the above took place within the last week.

50th Forward? Man thats great to hear. I hope you get some calls back on the tune.Dont know a thing about this genre, but it made me feel like I wason a merry go round or at a carnival type thing. When it started playing my kid starting jumping around, guess they liked it too.Really cool tune. CONGRATS!77

The forum does work, especially if you don't get emotional about your work and can step back and analyze the music you are getting advice about. One thing I have noticed is how much of a great community this forum has become, and how we are all more successful because of the sharing of help and information that goes on here. I've noticed a lot more forwards than ever before appearing on this forum and I think that is really cool.Congrats on the Forward -- this piece is right on the money now, texture wise as well as composition wise. Good for you for listening and revising.cheersHummin'bird

Nice job and congrats on the forward -- 50 forwards! In what span of time have you racked those up? That's great. Any deals from the 50? (sorry, I'm still pretty new and don't know everyone's successes yet )Larry

Thanks for listening.Hummingbird, I actually wrote a new piece rather than revising the piece I had posted about. That track will probably rear its head at some point for a different listing.Larry, I've been a member since March of '06. I have viewed the entire submission process as a numbers game and focus on the successes and learn from the returns. Moving thru the rejection of a return is far easier with alot of material in motion. In terms of deals, I have tracks in four libraries and already have a rather new relationship with the library this calliope track was forwarded to. The first track they accepted was a disco track that had previously been returned.Chuck

That's a very cool calliope piece. I really like the different key centers in the middle, and then how you brought it all back to the home key for the end .Very cool!Congrats on the forwards.Charlie

Matto, sorry if it seems I stole your title, did you post your track with the same title? Anyway it is a good title, and I'm fairly sure if my track is picked up it will be retitled to something like "Sweet Surprise" or "Candy Carnival". I do like coming up with descriptive titles, even if they are changed. Thanks for all the comments and help on the earlier track.Chuck
