I couldn't pass up giving this brief a shot - S210323AP. The reference tracks seemed pretty cookie-cutter/bland and the production value wasn't very high, so I figured it might be easier than normal to clear the bar on this one. Apparently, I was right. I threw this one together start to finish in about 3 days, which is pretty quick for me. One of my partners played and recorded the drums/perc, another did the keys/glockenspiel, and I played acoustic guitars, cavaquinho (Brazilian ukelele) and bass.

Quick update....We got contacted by the client for this forward and are in the process of getting it signed. They also asked us to produce some similar music to pitch for a specific TV show in early May, and that's a 1st for us. It also happens to be my crazy dad's favorite show. He couldn't care less about music, but if the stars align and we get a placement on that he may actually take notice, lol.

Yep, very nice track indeed Vince. I'm glad that you not only got a call back but also an offer to sign more tracks. That's how to do it! :)

Just to follow up. The library sent us a full background score to one of the episodes (which was interesting to hear) as a reference and we had 2 weeks to prepare some more cues. We had to really try to speed up our process, because 2 weeks isn't much, especially when recording and editing acoustic slide (getting the intonation passable isn't easy for most mortals) and even more so when guitar players are having to play mandolin, banjo and other unfamiliar instruments. :? We got 8 or 9 started, but ended up only finishing 4 more in time. But they signed all 5 without asking for any changes, so that was nice. If anybody's curious the deal is exclusive and they get the publishing and we keep the writer's share. They also wanted 8-10 alt mixes, so it's definitely helpful in these cases to do your own production/mixing or to have somebody on your team that can turn it around quickly. Here are the 5 tracks:
