It is a real guitar!!!It an Ibanez George Benson model GB15 thru a Fender Jazz Ultra Light amp thru the line out directly into the sound card on the computer. I've been trying to refine the various ways to record different guitars. I use a VG88 for some guitar stuff, occasionally mike an acoustic or archtop.For a surf guitar track I'm about to submit, I miked a Vibrolux reverb in my isolation booth (the Bathroom) and used a Tele for the rhythm part and a Strat for the lead. (Unfortunately, my Mosrite guitar is still in the cleaners.) I am finding that the real instrument adds to the illusion of evything being a real musician rather than just sequenced or looped parts.Chuck

Chuck, the guitar sounds great! I liked the rhythm section you put together too.The more oppotunities for you to mic an amp the better, IMO. The little bit of air (from the mic) and the little bit of hair (from the tubes and speakers) really make a difference.Having at least one "live" played instrument really does make a difference in the quality of the piece.Congrats on the forward!MazzPS: If you need some piano comping, give me a shout!

So you were not really pushing any air on the jazz piece? You ran the line out from the amp directly into the soundcard? For the rich tone you got I would have thought you mic-ed the amp. I am a little surprised.

horacejesse,I was surprised too. The line out is an XLR output and Fender does this speaker emulation thing as well. I'm not a fan of wearing headphones and try to do a direct thing as much as I can, not to the extent of sacrificing tone.I've got the new Roland VG99 coming in the next couple of weeks and I'm excited about what is going to be able to add. This is the next generation of guitar and amp modeling. It also has a pitch to midi converter built in as well as their iBeam controller technology, software to edit from the computer, USB output etc, etc.Should be landing in a couple of weeks.Chuck
