Even though the other two songs I submitted weren’t forwarded, I’m still totally stoked that “Sadness Comes” was forwarded to the below listing. Yeah! It’s currently my favorite of the songs that I’ve written, so I’m glad that someone else thinks very highly of it! (Hurray for compliments to keep us going!) Here’s the listing:S070904SSYouthful and talented FEMALE SINGER-SONGWRITER ARTISTS in the general range of Feist, Sara Bareilles, KT Tunstall, Cat Power, Regina Spektor, Astrid Swan, etc. are being sought by the VP of A&R at a Major Publishing Co. Great writing chops and amazingly unique yet accessible vocals are essential. She'd love to find an artist that also has a strong local/regional following, but it's not necessary. Please submit two to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics/photo/bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Sept. 4, 2007. Congrats, I thought that are stuff was perfect for that listing. Sent in songs with a very high forward ratio, but we were returned. So good job indeed. We submitted Chains, The Times and Good Girl. All received high marks, the critique was:"I dig this voice a lot! Wonderful texture, attitude and pitch control - this voice is smooth and confident. There were times I wished the song's were more dynamic melodically, to push this voice a bit more to the "edgy" side....... the song's tend to be very linear and at times repetitive in melody in my opinion. Lyrically "The Good Girl" is terrific - great visual imagery in that song! "Chains" in my opinion, seems very vague in story and more "common" in wording (see song's comments). Again, this voice is wonderful...... might be worth exploring more daring melodies. I wish you all the best."with the reason fro return:"Melodically & lyrically may need some honing to meet the Super High requirements of this listing."I don't disagree with the critique, I don't usually pitch these songs to the Pop/Commercial listings for that very reason. I guess I misunderstood what they were looking for.I am glad I got to hear a song that was forwarded, and well deserved, great job on Sadness Comes.Rob

Great job, and congratulations Adrianne!!That listing would most definitely seem to fit the description of "high-bar" that I've seen used around here. Your voice and delivery on that tune are very soothing and endearing. Love it when a few of your words/notes are almost delivered in a whisper. Good luck to you!Rob

Adrianne, I'm not surprised in the least. As I mentioned, this song is special, as is your vocal delivery. Now, stay true to your muse, work hard, write your hind end off, and shoot me some backstage all access plastic someday. congratulations,bc
