Excellent work and congratulations. I love the build in these tracks and I particularly like the solo cello in Avalons dream. It sounds a bit like Spitfire Audio's Solo Cello? I'd love to know what sound libraries you are using. I need to invest in better libraries (and learn how to use them properly) but I need to stay within a fairly tight budget!
Best, Tim Harrison

Thanks so much for the kudos guys!

@ Tim: the solo Cello is a sample from splice which I cut up and transposed. I haven't used sample libraries for solo strings yet because I'm always disappointed with the result. It takes a lot to make it sound realistic, but at one point I have to dig deeper into this possibility! The rest is mainly Spitfire Albion, Komplete 14, Spitfire BBC free library, Damage II, and Symphonic Destruction. As far as investment is concerned I think Native Instruments Komplete 14 Ultimate or Collectors Edition is a very good investment if you are writing in different styles.

Chris—congratulations on these awesome tracks! I have just started experimented with taking cello notes like you did from Splice to make melodys and add realism and I think you did a really great job—one question on that for you, did you put the sample in a sampler and work with it that way or did you copy and paste the notes together? Hopefully this makes sense! Great epic work!

Thanks for the kudos Jennifer! I chopped the cello line up in like 2 bar sections and rearranged it after transposing it a semitone. As a string player (guitars, bass, doublebass) I have a hard time beeing satisfied with the results vst solo strings libraries are providing.

Good luck with your music

Chris
