Two Outta Three Ain't Bad...

Just received two out of three forwards for the disco instrumental brief:
Lots of AUTHENTIC-Sounding DISCO INSTRUMENTALS from the '70s and early '80s are needed by a well-established Los Angeles-based production house/library with a long track record of TV, Film, and Advertising placements.

This Company is searching for Mid-to-Up Tempo Instrumentals that are in the general stylistic ballpark of the following examples:

"Stayin' Alive" by Bee Gees

"I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross

"Get Down Tonight" by KC & The Sunshine Band

IMPORTANT: This Company has a preference for material that was ACTUALLY RECORDED in the '70s or early '80s (give or take a few years), but they are also open to current recordings that capture the sound, feel, and vibe of this era.

Please submit original Disco Instrumentals with an authentic vintage sound and loads of dance-floor energy - think glittering disco balls, groovy vibes, and the spirit of Studio 54! Danceable rhythms, exciting motifs, great musicianship, and solid arrangements with plenty of dynamics, forward motion, and interest throughout are all needed. Disco instrumentation that's in the general stylistic ballpark of the references will work best, such as grooving drums, rhythmic guitars, energetic horns, funky bass lines, keyboards, etc. Please ensure that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and era-appropriate.

DO NOT submit any AI-generated material!

Your submissions should be roughly 2-4 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed. Era-appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed for vintage recordings.

This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this request CANNOT be signed with other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll keep 100% of the Writer’s share. Time-permitting, someone from the Company may screen some or all of the submissions. You must own or control your Master to pitch for this opportunity. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. TAXI # S240818DC

All three of these tracks were previously submitted earlier this year to a different listing, and returned. What was the difference this time?? Well, I listened to the previous feedback, listened to the tracks that WERE forwarded (Forwards BLOG is an underrated tool on here!), listened to many references in the genre/time period (not just those listed), and fixed some EQ/Production issues. Of course, it could be a completely different library...etc as well, but I fixed what was within my control. Another shout out to screener 463 who gave me the most detailed and concise feedback on ALL THREE submissions..... EXTREMELY helpful!

Well done, mate!
Great grooves and the horns are on fire.
Agree with the screener in regards the drums, they are bit sharp and heavy for the era but the soul is there!
Cheers!

RE: The drums....yeah, I totally agree! Does anyone who uses Toontrack EZ Drummer 3 or SD 3 have a recommendation for a specific expansion library that would be better suited for Disco?? I have most of them!!!!
