Rock Instrumentals

Post by didger » Thu Jul 02, 2009 1:44 pm

Got "Just Drive" through this one. I'm a little disappointed that "True Stories" got the ol' "stylistically off target" because I thought it was a lot like Radiohead's "National Anthem" but more guitar driven. I assume the reviewer thought it was too electronica. But, as I also had world instrumentals forwarded to the same place, hopefully they take notice, get in touch and listen to more of my stuff!GUITAR DRIVEN ALT ROCK INSTRUMENTALS in the wide variety of The Raconteurs, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, etc., are wanted by a Music Publisher for placement in Muzak-type applications (shops, restaurants, malls, etc.) as well as film and TV placements. He wants BMI writers only (don't be mad at us - this was his specific request). He's signed and placed many TAXI songs in the past. He wants to hear edgy, guitar driven instrumentals that stand on their own and sound like they could be on the radio - minus the vocals, of course! Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Thursday, June 4, 2009. TAXI #Y090604AR

Thanks! I must say, I haven't rocked that hard in years and it was good fun! And a good exercise in using and mixing new guitar amp plug-ins.

Thanks Ibanez. I was actually pretty lucky as this was sort of a first for me. As I said, I hadn't ROCKED that hard for a while, not since a few software updates, so it was the first time mixing distorted guitars done through Guitar Rig - and one clean track using the old Rock Amp Legends. But my one basic hint from this track is that for most of the song, there's three guitars playing the same or similar parts with very different effects. The clean track with swirly chorus is hard left, the very straight ahead overdriven rock guitar sound that opens the track dead centre, then another heavily distorted and flanged guitar hard right. The panned guitars enter with the drums and bring on the fatness. The other hint is Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums running on GVI. I love them and curse Tascam for killing Giga once and for all. I dread the distant day that I switch to an OS GVI won't work on, mainly for these drums I'm so hooked on!
