Two of three submitted tracks made it through. Listing S100623EL. Sweet!
Especially nice to get through with tracks I wrote specifically for the listing...it's encouraging that I'm not totally off the mark.
http://www.taxi.com/jonmonteverde - Streetlight, Tundra
The one I submitted that got returned was Portcullis.

You did a great job capturing the Air vibe. I love those guys. Really nice. (listening to Streetlight right now)

Gosh, what was the issue with Portcullis? It's close enough to Air without being a ripoff - is it too uptempo?

Thanks CK! Let's see, the reviewer said Portcullis "may be a bit of a departure for this specific request." Another overall comment was regarding the lack of enough dynamic changes in the arrangement (on all the tracks), but the reviewer felt strongly enough about Streetlight and Tundra to forward them anyway.
The main comments I've been getting from this latest round of submissions are deficiencies in composition (i.e. it doesn't change up enough) and a lack of cutting-edge sounds. I certainly lean toward vintage/retro sonics and compositional minimalism in the music I make for myself, so I'm working on developing my compositional chops and adeptness at some current styles.

Hi Jon. Congrats. I love the wah-wah vibe and the filtering on Streetlights. The piece has a lovely laid-back feel. Tundra also has that quality. I like the way that you only use a few elements to complete the picture. I think that will allow your pieces to be used freely as production music. Portcullis has a cool bass part. It's probably closer to early fusion style (like "Spectrum" by Billy Cobham). Maybe not on target but I really liked it! Cheers, Doug
