Mother's Day Dispatch Forward

The song that really started me getting serious about songwriting and into Taxi a few months later was a Mother's Day song I wrote on Mother's Day eve a couple of years ago. I figured the song was too personal to ever have any commercial success, and who ever heard of a listing for Mother's Day songs anyway? Well, turns out there was a dispatch listing for just such a thing a few weeks ago and I got a forward on it today! Mom would be proud.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... trueVocals are by our own Squids. I actually have had plans to re-record the rather heavy-handed piano part (played by yours truly) which has bothered me since day one, so I hope it doesn't get tossed for that.Cam

I'm headed to Nashville for a week and will send you a PM about it after I get back.My piano on this one is a Kurzweil K1000, which sounds really good for its age (close to 20 years) but it's always been an SOB to EQ. If you get the mids right the treble is too muddy, and if you get it so it's not muddy it's too bright, and it's got a hot spot about an octave down from middle C that always comes through too loud (you can hear it on the tape) unless you EQ all the bass out.I just bought a Yamaha P-85 which is easier to get right but I don't care for the piano sound as much. One of these days I going to sneak into Derek McFarland's house and steal his Yamaha 6 ft. grand while he's sleeping. First I have to go the gym for about 6 months.Cam

Wings, Matt and Blue:Cam really did a fabulous job of expressing not only his deep affection for her but examples of why he felt that way. Jes good writin. Anybody could sing this song and sound great on it. It's got an easy, familiar, comforting style to it that's catchy.I thank you gentleman so much for your compliments on my voice too.
