So I've been a member for around 8 months now. I'm a Contemporary Pop Artist/Producer/Writer... which is a really uber-competitive slice to pull from the pie here in Taxi Land.

I submitted around 40 songs in genre's anywhere from Contemporary Pop to R&B and none were forwarded.
That can be pretty daunting especially when you treat each tune you write like a new born child.

I always made sure to frequently submit to critique opportunities and when I received each review I printed it out and glued it to a big piece of cardboard that is hung on the wall in my studio. I also highlighted each of the sections of comments where the reviewer was spot on about changes that I should make to increase my work quality and probability of forwarding. Needless the say, the piece of cardboard on the wall is almost full!!! But I can confidently say that I am a much better producer and writer since I became a taxi member and kept the motto "Write, Submit, Forget" in mind.

Congrats Rusty! You are right, the genres you are submitting to are super competitive, so the taste of a forward must be that much sweeter! It's great to hear about your dedication, focus, and the ability to take the criticism constructively - all very valuable qualities in this biz. I could only get Run Around Part 2 to work from your links, but it sounded great! Congrats again!

Congrats Rusty and thanks for this post. I needed it. I joined about the same time as you, haven't had a forward yet (but have only submitted 1/3 what you have though). I've tried to learn from the critiques, can't quite get the "forget" part to work that well, cause they are my children. I just got a return yesterday on some stuff I was really psyched on. I really needed the inspiration in this post. Thanks again, and congratulations. Keep it up!
