Just got news that my two classical pieces were forwarded to the game audio client. Sure hope something good comes of it. The reviewer said the pieces were "superbly crafted in the Classical style" and was "particularly impressed by the Mozartean piano part" in the concerto movement.

The tracks were Allegro giocoso in D and Piano Concerto in Bb for Piano and Orchestra (ala Mozart) and can be heard at

and

BTW, Russell asked if I could leave the Finale scratch version of the Allegro up for a comparison with the full mock up. You can compare the two on my Taxi site. I've marked the Finale vers. accordingly.

It's been a pretty good two weeks on Taxi so far--4/5 with one more in the wings. I've got my fingers crossed on that one!

Cheers to all,

Vince

Wow Vince - both these pieces are just incredible - it's a good job Herr Mozart isn't around or he'd sue you for millions!
I also got forwarded on this but I'm embarrassed to post them after listening to yours!!! Well done!

Thanks to you all for your kind words and input on these. It's funny how when you listen to other people's music you can say, that's a forward for sure, but when it's your own you get caught up in wondering all sorts of things from, is this production high enough quality? or, is this REALLY what they're looking for?

Georgie, I'd love to hear what you've done and you shouldn't be at all embarrassed, after all you got forwarded and have bragging rights and everything I've ever heard of yours sounded fantastic. Besides, who knows what the company really wants? BTW, I'd like to think that Herr Mozart would be highly flattered by my work, because in his day the highest form of flattery was imitation and he certainly "ripped off" a ton from J C Bach. Think of all the theme and variations that wouldn't exist if they had today's copyright laws!!!!

Hope something comes of this forward for the both of us.

Cheers all,

Vince

Hi All,
Two year Taxi member, new to the forum... Vince, your pieces sound great! My cue, "Wolf Concerto Miniature in F" was returned on the basis of broadcast quality. Would love to hear some feedback from everyone out there! Thanks,
Jason
p.s. and I'm new, so hoping that I can successfully get the taxi link posted correctly...

Jason,

Your piece is charming. I think the biggest problem was with your mockup which just sounded too synthy/midi. This problem is particularly evident with the woodwinds (at least on my laptop speakers). I don't know what libraries you're using, but the bar is quite high these days for orchestral mockups and if you're not using a top of the line library like EW Platinum or VSL extended, then it makes your work all the more difficult. If you ARE using one or both of these libraries, then it is a matter of programming. The best thing to do is get a reference track (in this case a good recording of a Mozart piano concerto and get as close to the sound as possible, both performance-wise and production-wise).
