It was a nice send off to get two out of three songs forwarded for this listing:S090304COCONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS are sought by a well connected, growing Indie label. The label needs very commercial, well crafted material that's "radio friendly" and might work well for their stable of well known artists. The label will be picky as most of their artists write their own material. So send in your best stuff! Stylistically, think material ranging from Brad Paisley's contemporary side through to the contemporary cross over style of artists like Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts. The most important thing is that the songs sound commercial and create emotional impact. All tempos will be considered. Please submit 1-3 songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than March 4, 2009. TAXI #S090304COThe songs were "Thinkin' 'Bout The Wedding Night" and "The Song I Didn't Write" (thanks to Perry Smith!).Claire

Well Claire,I for one will be very bummed if you don't hang around these parts and share your wonderful writing with us. I think you are one of the most gifted lyric writers that has graced our little forum here.Congratulations on the forwards! They are well deserved and as you already know the Country market is a really hard nut to crack, but I think you stand an excellent chance. All the best,Cisko

Way to go, Claire. Nice way to "go out" (if you still feel you must). But I also agree with Cisco...NO REASON for you to disappear from the forums. You've got much to share, and lots of eager ears...Ted

Nice work Claire (and Perry)! I've always liked both of those songs. I just checked my submission history and it's strange I didn't submit to that listing. I guess I felt my own stuff wasn't "contemporary" enough to be a fit.BTW Claire, I'm applying to join SESAC too. Just signed a single-song contract yesterday with a small indie publisher so I finally had to make up my mind and pick one of them. Your experience was what made me finally decide SESAC was the way to go.Cam
