My first singer songwriter forward....crack the bubbly!SOMEONE LIKE YOUhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=2003 ... ueACOUSTIC SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS are needed by an established Music Publisher in L.A. who has secured TONS of Film/TV placements for many TAXI members. This Publisher is only looking for songs that are piano/voice or acoustic guitar/voice - NO additional instruments in the track, please! Songs should be original and along the lines of Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Patrick Wolf, Fiona Apple, Rachael Yamagata, Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, etc. AlLYRICS:Someone Like YouI dial the phone once againGet through nine numbers, but never the tenthEven if I let it ringI know that you’ll never hear anything We don’t see anything the sameSo we live with ourselves to blameIt’s alrightWe’re not using sticks and stonesSilence abusedApologies left long overdueI guess someone like me deserves Someone like youI curse your name once againIn the bar at the corner with some beers and a friendWaitress says time for last callAnd I know when I leave, I’ll be home aloneWe don’t see anything the sameSo we live with ourselves to blameIt’s alrightWe’re not using sticks and stonesSilence abusedApologies left long overdueI guess there’s a lot left to learnCause someday we’ll realizeThat deep down insideWe shouldn’t be together, cursed for foreverI know this to be a self made catastropheAnd I know that you would agreeIt’s alrightWe’re not using sticks and stonesSilence abusedApologies left long overdueI guess someone like me deserves Someone like you

LOVE this line:I guess someone like me deserves Someone like youHope this doesn't sound bad, but I wasn't struck by the lyrics when I read them... But when I listened to it, I left it on repeat in my office for about 45 minutes.Cool! Congrats (to you both).

Hey good job B_Flat. I had high hopes for this one as the tune I submitted I think is very Elliott Smithesque. The screener was not impressed by the lack of a bridge. Anyone care to comment? Cheers, ethan.http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... id=4307the song is Tsunami

Hey EthanI can't listento your track cus the internet connection where I am today is very very slow!However.. I can tell you (from experiene) that songs without the classic verse, chorus, bridge format aren't forwaded very often.. I've had loads of returns for that reason only. I'm beggining to realise that writing for Taxi is about sticking to the book.. they aren't looking for anything clever, or different.. just good songs that follow the tried and tested formula. You gotta think that, that's what the majority of people want... you got to keep peoples attention, not an easy task today and the use of a bridge is a tried and tested way to do this. I'm actually in the proccess now of writing new stuff specificaly for Taxi, now I feel like I'm getting a good idea of what they want.Sorry to reply without listening to your song, but your post called my attention and with this internet connection, it'll probably take 5 minutes just to post this text!!!Good look fellaD

I'd never heard Elliot Smith before...Just heard needle in the hay.. great tune.. but.. where's the bridge? Where's all that stuff to keep the listener interested? The more I use Taxi, and this is not a rant or a grump as I have just signed a multi song deal thanks to Taxi.. but the more I use them the more I realise it's just the luck of the draw.. If a screener likes your music, he/she will forward it, if not, he/she won't.
