So what does that mean? This is the first time one of my songs was forwarded. Here's the description:MALE AND FEMALE SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS NEEDED in the wide range of Bright Eyes, Feist, Rachael Yamagata, Regina Spektor, Rufus Wainwright, Cat Power, Teitur, Kevin Devine, etc. are wanted by an established Independent Music Publisher who has signed dozens of TAXI writers and has secured tons of Film/TV placements. The President of the company will be screening these listings himself and will be open to hearing a great variety of stylistic approaches. He also really welcomes unique and innovative approaches that incorporate a variety of styles - a bit of Electro/Pop/Dance would be just fine or even SS songs that "rock" a bit more than usual. All tempos will be considered - this Publisher wants to hear something fresh, with lyrics that are compelling. Performances should be great and the recordings will need to be Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordings should be okay). He splits the license fee with you 40/60 [that 60% is for you] and doesn't take any publishing. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received by December 31, 2008. TAXI #Y081231SSDoes this mean I will make money in some way or like it will be used in different shows and stuff, or does it just mean it could be used in things?I just don't know what a forward does I guess. If you want to check out the song it's called Choices on my page

well, first things first.BIG congrats on your first forward. Print out that certificate and relish it, everytime you see it taped to your monitor. (Not that that's what I did <hhh> ......)What a forward does, more than anything else, is to confirm that you are creating quality music that has the potential to be commercially viable. That alone is HUGE. And reason to celebrate. But the very BEST thing for you to do now is to forget about it ... grab your guitar/sit back down at your keyboard ... and keep writing. Now that it has been forwarded, TAXI has nothing more to do with the process. If ANYTHING happens with your song from here on out, it is completely and totally up to the listing party it was forwarded to.MOST forwards, statistically, do NOT lead to deals (I'm so sorry to say); and even when they DO, it often takes anywhere from 6 months to TWO years before you hear anything. Believe it or not, my very first deal came only 2 months after my piece was forwarded. Things CAN happen that quickly, but that is TRULY the exception to the rule. So, sitting and waiting around to hear something is the WORST thing to do. Leave it alone. The group mentality/mantra around here is:write...submit...repeat.Good luck with this, man. Although getting past the screeners is NEVER easy, that listing was an even tougher one than most to get through. You have reason to be VERY proud of yourself.Congrats, again.Ted
