Forwards and returns (don't give up!)

Hey everyone.I just got forwarded for the first time. It's the 2nd listing I've submitted to since I joined in October.SINGER-SONGWRITER/POP SONGS WITH VOCALS in the range of Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Voegele, Tyler Hilton, Jason Mraz, Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillat, John Mayer, etc. are needed by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher for the purpose of Film/TV placements and licensing. This company has signed and placed dozen of TAXI songs, and offers a non-exclusive deal. Songs that have universal lyrics which are general enough to apply to many different scenarios/scenes/plots/etc. will take priority. Since these songs will be sought after for TV Commercials/Promos and various Film/TV placement opportunities, you'll want to be sure the lyrics aren't too specific or dark/melancholy. Musically, the songs need to sound radio-ready and current - all tempos will be considered for this one. Male or female vocals are just fine, but be sure the performances are fantastic! No profanity or uncleared samples and songs MUST be recorded at Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordings should be fine). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by November 5, 2008. TAXI #S081105SSHowever I'm not hear to brag particulalry (although it does feel nice to have been forwarded).. but to maybe help give some encouragment to anyone who has had songs returned.. The thing is.. it's just a matter of personal opinion on the screeners part. Read on:I submitted the same 3 songs for this listing as I did for one almost identical a week earlier. The earlier one had all 3 songs returned but this time all 3 were forwarded. The only difference: The screener.So.. what I'm trying to say is.. if you have music you really believe in then don't let returns get you down or knock you back, cus it might just be a matter of opinion, nothing else. I'm not saying ignore the screeners comments and suggestions, but just keep it in mind that it's just one persons view on your music.I'll post audio soon so you guys can hear what got forwaded, but I gotta head to a gig now. Actually one of the songs is on my myspace
www.myspace.com/davidphilips - "South East Breeze" by Sub Lengua.. if anyone wants to check it. The Sub Lengua myspace has no audio at the moment.. it'll be back up soon.HugsD

Wow David, that's fantastic news!!!! I really enjoyed listening to your MySpace material. Your song "South East Breeze" is one of those rare tunes that grab me and won't let me go. Well done Dave!Dec 5, 2008, 5:18am, slotter wrote:...had all 3 songs returned but this time all 3 were forwarded. The only difference: The screener. That's great advice. Every opportunity is different but in the end, good material will find a home if you keep on pluggin'. When it comes to critiques, it's not so very important what any one screener thinks... what matters is the message in all the feedback taken as a whole. Hey GeoffDavid Gray comparisons are welcome, thanks! The guitar on the myspace picture is a 1965 Harmony Rocket. I've never owned a Gretsch but I wouldn't mind one!The Rocket is great though... those D'Armond Goldfoil pickups are wild! Thanks for the kind words.Dave
