Just got an email and a track was forwarded for:SONGS WITH FRENCH VOCALS in the range of Madeleine Peyroux’s “J’ai Deux Amours”, Alizee’s “J’en ai marre”, AaRON’s “Le Tunnel D’Or”, etc. and on to the more traditional tones of the soundtrack from the newest “Pink Panther” movie (starring Steve Martin) are wanted by an Independent Record Label for a Film project set in Paris - this label has placed TAXI songs on projects distributed by Sony/BMG, Universal, EMI, etc. This company is most interested in hearing a Jazz/Pop/Contemporary approach with vocals (male or female), but is open to considering various songs and instrumentals with French “flavors”- from traditional to contemporary. This project will be using songs with vocals primarily, but there will be a few opportunities for fantastic and authentically approached instrumentals. Regardless of the stylistic approach, it’s important that music immediately evoke the essence of France - much like the opening credits of a film set in France often tells the audience the location by the tone of the music. Excellent performances and recordings that are Broadcast Quality will be essential and we’ll need to be quite selective. Be absolutely certain that the lyrics are in French or at least a blend of French and English. Lyric subjects should be upbeat, romantic and light - nothing too heavy or dark for this one, musically and lyrically. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyric translations if you submit a song with vocals. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than 2pm PST on Monday, November 10, 2008. Thanks for the comments.James, unfortunately, unlike Derek, there is no real accordion on this track.The accordion is a sound from the Korg OASYS layered with an accordion patch from Vir2 virtual instrument.Bass is from Trilogy, drums are EZ Drummer (Twisted Kit expansion)Guitars are real. Hello Chuck,I really like this one. Especially those guitar and violin counter melodies. I've never been to Europe but this song helped to give me a picture of the "Rooftops of Paris". Very nice job indeed. Best of luck on this forward. By the way, I really enjoyed meeting and discussing things with you at the Rally.
