Two forwards, but I'm very confused!

Ok, can't complain because I got two forwards for the solo piano a la George Winston, etc. Since it was a Y/N listing I have no idea if the returns were because of sound quality, etc. What baffles me is that the returns were ( in my opinion) not better or worse than the forwards, but closer to the " a la" than the others.These two were a la David Lanzhttp://

Yep. NO complaining. A forward is a forward is a forward.Way to go. I actually think it's nicer to be forwarded for something that's totally YOU, anyway...congrats, kiddo.Ted

Gorgeous pieces, though!!The ones that were forwarded felt more soft and spacious, more inward, informal and flowy -- which I think is why they were a better fit for the specific listing.In my brain, New Age (e.g. Enya, Winston, etc.) is all about flow, space, arpeggios, and a light touch of jazz (e.g. 2nds and 9ths in the chords) - and lots of ebb and flow . . . a feeling of poetry and spontaneity . . . and introspection. Soft around the edges . . . Enya, e.g. in Watermark, uses spacious bass lines ( 1 5 9 10 9 5 ) adding 2nds in the chords and bass lines, but using lots of space.Winston uses lots of pivot points (not the proper term, just one I made up) -- in other words, if his main melody line is G F# E D, he will play these while repeating 1 or 2 notes of the chords inbetween each of those notes: G (low G B G) F# (low G B G) E (low G B G) etc. -- or perhaps just pivot with an octave note below. It gives a guitar-ish kind of feel to a piano piece.He'll start simply and then increasingly fill the space between the melodies with these repetitive inbetween notes -- similar to what Bach does in the middle part of Tocatta and Fugue in Dm, yet interpreted with a more modern feel. Or similar to how a guitar piece like Malaguena begins with a few simple notes then gradually includes more and more arpeggios that make it lively and intense.MALAGUENA, e.g.1st time: E G# B (2x); A C B A G F 2nd time: add a lower "E" note between each melody note3rd time: add 2 notes of the E chord between first half of melody; and add 2 notes of the A minor chord between the 2nd half. (Use whichever 2 notes of the chord are not the current melody note).Winston's version of Pachelbel's canon is a wonderful example of this idea of beginning simply and adding in pivot-notes of the chord. I transcribed the song once for a music client -- and was surprised at how much he did this pivot point kind of thing (someday I'll learn the proper name for it). I had 3 forwards to the George Winston/ David Lanz listing, and posted links in my posting about it in the forwards section. Giving 'em a listen might help clarify at least why those particular tunes were chosen.Hope this helps!!Suz

BRIN....U PLAY SO SMOOTH AND BEAUTIFULLY.... I personaly feel all should have been forwarded..... u know how the screeners can be sometimes.... SO I Say 2 u....great job....CONGRATZ BIG TIME FOR U..... JAY...

Jay, thanks so much for listening! No, I was not complaining about the screeners ( there were two of them). What I didnt understand was The Forward. Like Suz said, my pieces are kind of leaning more towards classical than new age. I know that, can't help it, it just comes that way, but I dont see any new age in the forwards either, but hey, like Ted said, a forward is a forward is a forward. I just want to learn so next time they ask for New age i know what to do. Im sorry it was a y/n listing without critique, but Suz helped me clarify this.
