UPTEMPO CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS with MALE VOCALS in the style of Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Rodney Atkins, etc., needed by a Manager of a newly signed recording artist looking for a breakout single. QUOTING THE MANAGER: "Songs must have radio appeal. Songs that would work well for this artist are party anthems, songs about being rebellious, and songs that make you feel energized." Lyrics MUST be COMPELLING, with melodies that are instantly contagious. Songs should have a current edge, be well structured, with HUGE hooks, and a chorus that provides the perfect pay-off! MALE vocals and lyric perspectives only. UPTEMPO songs ONLY. Strong demo performances are essential to really "sell" the concept. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Wednesday, October 24, 2012. TAXI #S121024CO

We tried to write a country song for the rest of us. I guess "Country Must Be Country Wide" is the same sort of idea. It was fun, especially using the talkbox!

Really dig this song, Stan. I gave this listing a shot too but got the big zilch. Yours is truly a radio-friendly song, just dying to be recorded by one of the big boys. I'll keep my ears out for this one on the radio within a year... seriously, from a guy who listens to and records a LOT of country, this one is top-notch. Much applause to you, amigo.

Impressed with the vocals most, right in the pocket, imo. Well done!

That's Matt Dame singing. He's one of the busiest demo singers in Nashville these days. Russell Terrell did the BGVs. He's a background singer in Nashville (the voice of Lonestar).

I thought I'd share some feedback from a Nashville publisher my cowriter has been meeting in, and would be interesting to get your thoughts on this. She thinks the title "How Country Is That" puts the question to the listener, and rather than making them decide, the actual title and hook should be "That's Country to Me". It's a minimal lyrical change, but it had never occurred to me. I think we're actually going to give it a rewrite and try it out. The song has not gotten through very much, and I'm wondering if that may be the key.
