Hi Geo, This is my first "critque" of another's work, so take what I write for what it is: newbie impressions.Tim's guitar work is excellent I've lived in the South for 20 years. Any Country Rock or Southern Rock band would love to have those licks grace their tracks. I can even hear them in a funky R&B tune. The Superstar whispers are lost in the mix. They need to be beefed up.I like the background vox, but I would've beefed them up as well. I would try to make them sound like a larger group of singers maybe even with a Gospel attitude.I'd like to hear more emotion in the lead vocals, more from the gut. I say this as someone who cringes at the thought of recording my own vocals.I would also agree with Diogenes. I can hear Sheryl Crow doing a version of this song. Smashmouth comes to mind as well without the DJ turntable stuff.Hope this helps. - Jacowoody

hi Geo--don't hear this as country, and again, from my gut (which isn't as "limited" as i would like it to be, literally!) most of my comments have been said by those above, but i WAS going to say,1) need more powerful, relaxed and on tune lead singer--no offense...and maybe a bit of reverb might help?2) need to every time highlight more the whispered and effective "superstar!" not hearing it was the first thing i noticed...3) bring out the lead guitar more VTBP said it in my BOSS 1600-CD opinion, pan more to highlight, and turn up some EQ--that's my almost total knowledge of my machine!!!!4) also something i haven't heard commented yet is, I would add more spice and build more with each verse change,--especially the "diamond" verse, which to me screams to be pumped up, however the last verse being quiet is very nice effect, looking at it as a whole enchilada--that's it from my virgin ears. the bones of this tune are excellent. lyrics work fine, no comments other than possibly taking out a few words here and there in verses.heinsite out

WOOOOW!!!! Thanks everyone for the great comments!!! I just emailed the thread to my guys so we are rearing to go on Monday (recording day)!!!Arthur great point on the lyrics... not being a singer I sometimes think "if I can make it fit...." V1 - I actually think I'll take out the "Tell me""Wanna impress me? Just what'd you plan to do.I want to punch the "Wanna impress me" with harmonies.V2 - I might swap out "currently" with "living" (one less syllable ), I dunno, about the 10,000, I know in this song I'm treading a fine line between prominant hook and just annoying.. but I like the "If only..." "That's still more.." aspect of the lyric.Thank you VTBP for the mix down points... really most appreciated (and needed )Thanks for stopping by Woody... I like the idea of the big Gospel like harmonies and we will be addressing the whispers... I'll passed the compliment on to Tim but say thank you for him right now, I know he'll be happy to hear it.Warren thanks for the points and I like the idea of spicing up the second verse... got yet another friend (basically if you know me, and can play, I'll rope you in for something ) coming over on Monday to maybe put a little B3 organ stuff on the tune... maybe I'll use it on the choruses and V2 to give it that lift. Thanks again everyone... I really appreciate the help.... this is like "it takes a whole village to raise a child " kinda of stuff, thank you... I'll post changes most likely next Tues or Wed ...Peace, love and happiness, Geo
