http://www.billgaunce.com/song/103Hi BillI couldn't get the bjam player to play this morning but you had sent me this a few days back by mp3.I can't imagine this wouldn't be a slam-dunk forward. Top notch as with all your productions... They didn't ask for exact imitations- more like "tributes" so the uniqueness of your approach should serve well. Your tempo is slower but again, the goal isn't a replication. The steel drums add a nice touch. For me personally, I'd lower the steel drums in the mix just a touch during vocals. But I wouldn't do that based on that one comment at all... I'd like to see if anyone (competent) in the universe even agrees with that.I don't think you can miss with this! Casey

Well done, Bill. I agree you might think of adding some harmony or something to 'lift' it.... but after the break it does have more intensity so I'm thinking it works the way it is. Your voice is compelling. Good work.

Hi Bill ....Don't know the original but this sounds great!!!My suggestion is to vary the steeldrum some more.... those guys use a lot of subtle 1/16 & 1/32 notes under the main melody....This is a link to a friend of mine from Bermuda... you can play the samples if you want to get an idea of what I'm trying to say with my limited theory...

Hey Bill, you certainly have a great way with a Dylan song. Glad you put it up here. I think it's a good take on the song. This is one of my favorite Dylan songs and I'm a big fan. I've heard that this and "Like A Rolling Stone" were his parting shots at Joan Baez(sp.?) when he ended their romance. In the documentary of his tour of Europe in late 60's he is shown writing the lyric to this one in the back of a limo with Joan. He was trying to make the words as way out as possible to put off people "pigeon holeing" him as "The Spokesman Of The Generation". Anyway lot's of words been written tryin' to figure out Mr. Dylan. Fine job with the song Bill, as usual. Best of luck with it. Dave
