Something New
here's my latest demo, produced by studio pros, but with me more involved to the point of i think i almost teed them off, but all is good. most of the production are my crazy ideas. i like the bridge allot in this myself, made it stand out allot. i'm pretty happy with this one, though not being IN the studio as they are mixing is a pain in the butt, but..have at it... it's an older tune of mine revamped with a female POV...don't have the lyrics posted yet, but you should be able to hear them... http://www.taximusic.com/download/21753 ... 20Eyes.mp3

Re: Something New
I'm in between mixdowns so i hopped on here for a few minutes. Saw that you had a new song online and give it a listen. I'm not sure what you're gonna think about what I have to say but I'm gonna say it anyways I think you have TWO really good songs in this track... I think the verses and the bridge are one song and the chorus is a different song. Or at least that's what I would do with this track if it were mine.I'll take it a step further... I would take the verses and the bridge, speed the song up a lot, add in a "4 on the floor" kick drum dance beat and make this an uptempo pop/dance track. Betcha didn't see that coming did you? Seriously Warren... I think the verses and the bridge are some of the strongest stuff I've ever heard from you. The chorus is just ok to me in relation to the rest of the track. Again, just an opinion. But if I were you I would consider chopping this song in two and turning the verses and bridges into a dance track, come up with a new chorus for it.Ya know I love ya! Warren, not my genre as you know, but it is beautiful! And a wonderful mix too!

Re: Something New
Warren!I do believe you've found your niche!!! This is awesome.... sounds fresh, and I think you have a sound of your own going here. I thought I knew what Barry meant on the first listen, that maybe if you stuck to more of a straight format it might be more marketable, but after a couple more times through I think it works just fine as is. These are the kind of rewards that come your way when you take chances!I love it when the full instrumentation comes in at 1:10! Very cool!!!!!Cam

Re: Something New
Let me add that I like the song in it's current format as well. It's just when I listened to it, the ideas that I mentioned above just jumped into my head. I think the song can stand as is, but I would love to hear the verse/bridge as a pop/dance track, which really isn't my cup of tea musically, but that's what my ears kept wanting to hear.- Big Blue

Re: Something New
thanks cam--i have to laugh just a bit at the "niche" thing--since every tune is different, i'll be damned if could find a niche in a haystack..but thank you much, somebody liking something means allot to me! barry--i understand where you were coming from, no worries--i actually went back AND TRIED with fresh ears to hear this tune something like you've mentioned, but just can't hear it--YET--and i think it does stand alone--that does NOT mean i don't think it could be something else (don't know if you heard the orig,,,,this one's so much better IMHO....so yeah, things can change. we'll see.and michael--sh*t man, you've made my day, and since i gave them damn near a paint by number of how i wanted the production to go, i'll take your words as a compliment, as i know they are...the best, thanks again for listening guys!warren

Re: Something New
Hi WarrenNice song... Crystal-clear recording... The chorus is catchy and staying with me... Cool vocal arrangement. What genre do you see it? It has a bit of an 80's pop sound a la The Cranberries, The Go-Go's, etc... with a nice 60's retro influence. I might have brought in the drums or something else on the first chorus to give it a touch more umph. That first chorus is the most important thing in an A&R listen.Do you own the master rights for film/TV? That would be the best target. You have a good shot of getting a music library interested here. I'm really enjoying this! If you don't have the master rights, RUN don't walk to get them. Before your taxi membership runs out, why not invest $20 in a custom critique to get ideas on the best market for it and feedback in general? The $20 price is cheaper than outside demo services would charge so you might want to take advantage of that while you can.Nice work! Casey
