Hi gang,Would appreciate some feedback on this country tune, as I'm not sure what it needs. I posted the work tape of it a few weeks ago. No sugar coating is necessary... I'm a big boy now, so any comments about what you like or don't like will be much appreciated.Thanks!Camhttp://

Pretty damn good. I don't know if the double time sections are even necessary. I think it holds up fine in half time. The story is there. Nice recording.Good luck. I hope you get some traction with this worthy tune. Randy

Cam,Really nice job on this. Much improved recording from the last version I heard. Your best, most polished vocal ever!, imo. Love the adlibs (female and male). Chorus is working real good now, imo. I don't see what they are, but I have a hunch there might be better words than these: ......... and she worked real hardJust an idea. Those are fine, just think there might be something 'cute' there.Nice work .. songwriting and recording!Dean

Thanks guys. Dean, this was recorded in a studio vs. the last one which was my work tape. So of course now there's a real singer.I was holding back my own opinions until I got some comments. It's interesting that you guys like it, because I was disappointed with how it turned out. So it must be just me. The part that bothered me most is where the drums go from 1/2 time to double time, which Randy also mentioned. Most of the time the studio folks are a lot smarter than me though, and perhaps the chorus would sound flat if it didn't do that. I usually come around to liking what they've done.I also thought maybe the steel was a bit overdone, which I think makes it sound dated. Dunno, perhaps that works in a bit of a novelty tune. I had been hoping for more of a Brad Paisley sound with a few kick-ass guitars.Cam

Cam,I'll modify my opinion. I was grading this on a scale, because I thought this was your vocal and your production. If it was, then I thought it was great, but for a studio production .. it seems a bit flat to me.Dean

Very nice song! I was getting ready to hear what it was that he couldn't believe that he gave up that day at the end of the song and then the song ended. It left me wanting to know and I thought maybe I should know the answer by the end of the song and not be asking more questions. Does that make any sense? But I really liked the song.

Dean - Thanks. That's good to know.Angelica - Thanks for the comments. The last line is "I bet the farm and gave it all away, to the girl at the Circle K", so in other words, she ended up leaving him and getting everything. Does that make sense? Maybe I need to make it clearer.Cam

Well, I think this demo sounds fantastic. All the instruments are played with pro finesse and the mix is awesome.I was expecting the double time section to be clumsy, but it was as smooth as could be.Whether the story is strong enough to make the ears of a Nashville A&R guy perk up is questionable...and I say that because its kind of a mystery as to how and why songs like this get thumbs up or down.I think its the lyrics that separate the men from the boys with these pitches.I didn't read along...just listened as I would do if the radio was on, and honestly nothing really grabbed me...though it certainly wasn't terrible either.

Cam, This is hilarious. I love it. I LOVE the conversations thrown in there. Is that Jimi doing those talking lines? This is priceless. Way to go.Andy
