Our PUSH submisson - feedback appreciated

Post by che » Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:15 pm

Here's a song we submitted to the PUSH listing for hit songs. It's probably not a genre that many on here can appreciate, but input is definitely welcome. She Ain't Plastichttp://www.taximusic.com/stream/215490/She%20A ... .mp3AlsoIf interested - here's a link to a song by an artist my son started producing about 2 weeks ago. He didn't have 3 songs completed to do the artist PUSH. This is their 1st song. They are almost done with their second song.I Think You Want Ithttp://www.taximusic.com/stream/214656/NAH-%20 ... nks!Tricia

Hey Tricia... nice hook on "plastic".. I like that lyric concept.I like the arrangement and appreciate what you guys are going with the distorted guitar and some fresh drum rhythms. I'd like to hear the drums bang harder and really bring the groove home. I feel like they sound a bit timid (maybe just mix) and I want the kick and snare to really be up front and aggressive tearing my face off (ha ha).But I dig the song you got here! Nice work.On "want it" I'm digging that phasey synth sound in there and how it switches up with the 16th notes. The MC has great flow. Not sure if it's my speakers but the vox sound a bit muddy.IMO, I'd like to hear something else in the hook/chorus to make it pop... not sure if a harmony would be it or just add something to the drums. Sounds good though.

Patrick,THANKS for the feedback. My son is always fighting his drums in the mix. He'll take it different places to see how it sounds....edit the mix....etc. Seems as if he doesn't trust his speakers or maybe his ears He gets feedback from people around here and everyone has a different opinion, ya know. What sticks out in the mix to me doesn't bother him or his Dad, or their friends vice versa. That's why we love external input. On "want it" I'm digging that phasey synth sound in there and how it switches up with the 16th notes. That's a comment that my son son can appreciate Most of that music theory stuff sounds like Japanese to me. I just know if I like it or not. They are starting to get a ground swell here with "I Think You Want It" They go to a Large High School and word is starting to spread. It was played at a dance Sat night and they've been swamped with people wanting to buy it etc... It's exciting for them.

Hey Tricia.. wow that does sound exciting! I know opinions are a dime a dozen too ha ha. How old is your son? Sounds like he's off to a great start for being so young and that's great that he has your support!

I'd like to hear a different snare tone as well. The hook is clever. I like the overall sound. But I agree with Patrick on the timid sound of the drums

Thanks reasondemon!Patrick,He just turned 18 four days ago. He's never wanted to be a performer, but I'm not sure he's gonna be able to avoid it. He's really a producer at heart, but can turn on a dime and put on an unbelieveable show. We are just along for the ride. Trying to steer the car straight for him.mcanty - I will pass along the drum input and comments. Thanks for listening.

Thanks Dean!!!Patrick, he sure hopes he has a great future in this business. He's been doing this since he was 11 and has not changed course. He has no backup plan. He says it's this and only this, one way or another. As a mother that is somewhat worriesome, but I know he is talented and driven....so he'll end up doing something with his talents.
