some of it reminded me of van halen at the start, reminds me more of the band "cold" than nickelback or hinder though

Jeff Beck comes to mind. Just thinking the snare seems a bit dry and in your face. Maybe just a little reverb on the snare and toms would settle it in. Nice work!Kitz

Colm,Sounds good. I think technically what you have here is an underscore. On TAXI, usually an "instrumental" listing would have expectation of a melody thoughout. Not to say that yours isn't usable, as it's well done. The "lead" guitar is a little distant, but it's a pleasant sound.Song cut off abruptly at 1:31--not sure if that was expected.Vince

colmReally pure background on the left.Was wondering about that sound just before you start your lead work around 13 to 19 seconds. I get that same thing on almost everything I play. Just a milli second before the first note. Is that because I am using a modeling amp?( line 6 spider) It just really bugs me.Sorry, I know this thread is not about me:)Liked what you did here.Paul

Thanks for all the nice comments guys! Yeah the Mp3 - Wav converter I used cut the song off half way. It repeats the chorus section and then goes into a solo, then outro.Paul, I'm not sure what you're talking about? The only thing I can think of is what's known as a "rake" technique on a guitar, where you drag the plec along the strings as you play the note? Which track maes the sound? The clean guitar, solo guitar or crash cymbal?

If I were you, I'd drop the guitar solo bits. Not that it doesn't sound good, but it gives the tune an '80 guitar rock feel which is not what this listing is asking for.The other parts sound good.IMO, these type of instrumentals don't really need a specific, out front guitar melody, but just the suggestion of one by choosing melodic chord voicings or maybe brief octave phrasing, etc.

Nice song! It sounded very good and well produced what I could hear. The "A" part sounded a bit retro and the "B" part sounded more contemporary to my ears. I would continue to work on the "B" section if I were you, and the "A" part could be to a listing seeking more retro.
