I posted a demo of this song previously and am now finishing it up. Song was written as a reaction to a comment Lamont Dozier made at the road rally.Request any and all comments on my mix, sounds, production values, etc.Thanks!Vince---------------------Song Title: "It Wasn't Supposed to Be Like This"http://www.taxi.com/ideascapes

Vince,The production sounds remarkably like the period to me. What are you using for the horns? They sound great. Is that you singing?Cam

Cam, horns are Garritan Jazz and Big Band--I kept it simple and listened to a bunch of old soul tunes to guide my mix. Thanks for the listen, marc. Definitely not me singing! I sang lead and BGVs on the demo, but hired pros for the real thing.Paul, you're such a positive force on these boards--thanks for being around!Vince

Does it take a lot of time to build a part up? They're superb. Just trying to learn something here. I'm using Real Guitar with great success, but most of what I've done with it is just rhythmic background stuff.Cam

Cam, the horns are triggered by MIDI and I've found the program to be very easy to use. As I said, it's a simple horn chart, but you're hearing trombone, bari, tenor and alto saxes, and a couple of trumpets, I think.TB, hmmm, lap steel solo on a soul tune--yeah!V>

Solid mix. Reminds me of Blood Sweat and Tears = I like it. The female vocals feel kinda like its lacking something in comparison to the rest of the mix. Fresh MIDI manipulation, a lot of people are awful at it
