Post by annathomas » Wed Feb 11, 2009 7:37 pm

I am new to Taxi. I am a 12 year old singer songwriter in north Texas. I would love any feedback or advice on my three new set originals. You can hear them on my Taxi profile.http://www.taxi.com/annathomasmusicAny and all critique is welcome...

I listened to all three tunes. Really nice tunes. Really like the guitar work and the vocals are very nice and expressive.Generally it best to post each song in it's own post with the lyrics as it very hard to comment and catch all the lyrics in the first listen. Don't worry if you make a few posts initially, it is still preferred over one post looking for comments on multiple songs in a single post...and the typing the lyrics really help people critique the whole song.I think you have some nice tunes and you seem to really have a great grasp of music and lyrics....really nice and expressive songs. I think with some persistence you may find alot of opportunities at Taxi.Great job and good luck!Regards,Q

AnnaWelcome.I am not the best critic, but here are a few thoughts. You have talent, that is for sure.Break apart is a cool song, has excellent guitar, and your voice blends well in the mix. Trace of light has a beautiful acoustic sound. You sing it well, but I would like to see a touch of reberb on your vocal. In the chorus, your last notes could be held a little longer?Your work, to me,so far is very good. You sing on key and I did not hear you falter once. There are some excellent analysts in this forum. I hope they stop by.Nice to meet you and good luckPaul

really good songs, good voice . . . I think you're gonna have a huge success story to tell us!BTW - cool bass on "break Apart". Who is playing? It sounds like an authentic old P- bass tone.

Thanks everyone. I am new to this and it makes sense to post individually. I am just eager to hear and learn from the amazing folks here...I will re-post some individually with lyrics...Is this the right section for doing that?

Yes, peer-to-peer's the place. Typically what you'll find here is folks posting lyrics and a link to a tune along with a question like "does it fit such-and-such listing?", or "what genre would this best fit in?", etc. Folks who just ask if we like a tune get some feedback, but typically the feedback isn't as targeted as if you tell us what listing, genre or venue you're shooting for. Post away!

My dad just confirmed that yes it was a vintage p-bass with "dirty" strings...
