I have been trying to mix this for about a week now. I still feel like it is lacking something. Any tips more than welcome!!!! Isn't it enough to write the song? Someone please come out with auto mix software!!! Is it clear enough? Guitars powerful? As I listen to it, everything is panned dead center with the exception of the hi-hat which is predominately coming out of the right speaker. Probably doesn't matter much what you pan where... just pan some things away from the center. The snare can maybe be a little more upfront, maybe drier.That's my two-cents worth. Thanks dave!! I tried panning the drums like real life from drummers perspective,(snare/kick center, tom one center right, tom 2 further right, etc.) Butt never the less ended up with everything sounding centered. I have to go back and find where I lost it along the way. PS - I will own that tractor one day.... one day.

Personally, I think it sounds like a good soundtrack. I appreciate the fact that the drums have some presence. I hear a lot of tracks where the drums are treated as an after thought. I like the ambience on the snare. I agree with Dave Walton about some things being too centered. Try panning the high tom(s) harder to one side and the low tom(s) to the other. That can sound cool. Generally the snare and kick will be up the middle or close to it. I think you are good there. The hihat is out there in right field. Doesn't bother me, but you may want to reel it in some if you get the other stuff spread out. I suggest manually doubling the rhythm guitar and panning the tracks opposite and outward. That goes a long way in acheiving fullness. Or use a stereo double or simply change the pan position as Dave Walton suggested. I hear two guitars -- try panning them opposite sides. The keyboards at the end have some good stereo going. Any other suggestions I have are subjective and amount to the splitting of hairs. Maybe increase the 60hz on the kick 1 or 2 DB to add a little bump -- but not too much -- it is easy to get carried away. Randy

Thanks Randy. I definitely try to bring the drums to life as much as possible. Although I use reasons redrum, the drums are never the less very important to the flow and dynamics of my songs. But too much can very quickly become too much. I am still trying to find that line that divides my personal taste and style that sounds good from what sounds bad. It's so hard when it all sounds good to you. Thanks for the very specific input. I will definitely put your ideas to work and try it out!!!
