Inside, Part 2
If you could be so kind - please take a listen to "Inside Part 2" - I need some input as to who this could sound like - some "a la's" if you will...I'm getting mixed feedback on genre and style and I'm trying to narrow down some artists who this may sound like for submission reasons. Is it classic rock? modern? retro? hungarian freedom chants? whut? The other "Inside" song is the original, acoustic version, but "Part 2" is full band.Any comments/feedback/critiques would be appreciated too!http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... lmanINSIDE PART 2Staring at the ceiling for a whileTrying to decideI think I’ll stay insideThinking I’ll just lie here for a whileDon’t wanna face my lifeI’ll stay here insideI don’t wanna go out thereI know what’s out thereI’m not trying to hideI just wanna stay insidePeople say that I’m just wasting awayBut it takes up all of my timeHere insideWhat better way to spend a lovely dayThan to hide from the sunshineHere insideI don’t wanna go out thereI know what’s out thereI’m not trying to hideI just wanna stay insideMusic & Lyrics by Bill Hunter © 1999www.TexasRockBand.com

Well, the mixed feedback on retro/current, etc. is sort of the norm around here, sometimes even for the screener!. I like this song and this is gonna sound like a cop-out, but I can see how it could go either way. Sorry not to be much help. Was there any specific listing you were thinking about?

I listened to a couple of your songs and like em. But I see your dilemma. Here's the strengths, good solid melodic song writing and strong vocals. The guitar playing to me, while solid has a classic rock approach to me so I see why it might have been labeled that. Same with the drumming. But to me, good songs transcend styles so I could see how it could go in the direction of Train or Snow Patrol, or I could also see it moving in the direction of somebody like A Perfect Circle or Tool.Maybe it would be good to kind of figure out what your about as people, what you want to represent, etc... and then make a closer study of those styles. i.e. if you wanna go in the pop direction add some piano and more vocal parts, or if you wanna rock out double or triple the guitars and get a Mesa Boogie. This all come under the heading of IMHO of course, I'm no professional manager, that's for sure but maybe there's something useful in there.Good luck, Elser

No, not a specific listing at this point, but I don't want to submit it to a modern rock listing when it should be classic rock and vice versa...
