New Action Piece

New mix uploaded. Did some more overall EQ in the mud range and then took some of the mud out of the synths and guitars and made them brighter. Also put the bass through an 1176 plug in and then through the MOTU preamp with some slight distortion and more compression and also EQ. A little echo on one of the synths and also auto panning on it to give it some motion.Also moved some of the string and brass parts around to put them more in the pocket and also some more automation moves on strings and brass to give more variation.Better?Mazz

Hi Mazz,Cool piece. There's no doubt that this is all about action.Were you aiming for a sound that was a 50/50 blend of electronica/orchestra? I ask because, besides the first seventeen seconds of the song, I felt that this was more of an orchestral composition than a shared palette between the two. I heard electronica throughout the work, but the drums and orchestral voices eventually led me to pay more attention to these orchestral elements.Not that my feedback means anything. Just an observation. I listened to Helicopter on both the speakers and phones. Both were consistent and sounded super.Good luck with this!Al

Al,Good observation. It's slanted more toward the orchestral side for sure. The tricky part about the hybrid thing is getting the balance right.Usually I start with the orchestral and work back to the electronica but with your comments and also hearing a couple of Chuck's really nice pieces in the Forward section, I think I need to try it the other way around to see how that works. I don't think it's an either/or but might depend on the intention of the piece.Take care!!Mazz
