Satellite Down - Sunday

Post by digidog » Sat Jan 31, 2009 6:23 pm

This song was recorded about a year ago. It's all me and it's going to be re-recorded in a couple of months.Curious what you like, don't like and what should change as well as stay. This will help me re-record it well.http://www.dallasnetworks.net/media/sd/072307sunday.mp3

Do NOT change that guitar sound!Damn thats a killer tone. I dont hear a whole lot yet that I would change. Maybe some more dynamics between the breaks. your voice is good for this. A little more melodic play from the guitar might help tie the sections together. Thats just one listen from me though. You definately have a modern sound going.M~

Once again a really commercial radio friendly song imo. And I'll ditto Matt on the guitar tone, I wouldn't change that a bit. When I listen to this song (and the other you posted) I just can't help but wonder how much more impact the song could have if there was a tighter relationship between the kick and bass guitar. At least I'm consistent!

Hi digidog-Ditto on the guitar sounds. Perfect for this type of song. I thought the intro 'radio voice' part could have come up a hair. Actually, all of the vocals could come up a little. Lots of cool dynamics & break downs where they are, but where they're REALLY needed... ie- The chorus... I'm not hearing a lot of difference between the V & C, but, you know, I'm not fond of this genre, so the in-yer-face approach probably works. Something that bothers me (OH,,, here we go!) is the auto tune (I think that's what it is). This is a personal opinion, because I hate that effect. It reminds me of why I hated the Yamaha DX7 back in the 80's, but now love it, because these days it's used sparingly & as an effect, not to mask a bad song, or in this case, bad singing. BUT, I can tell that you're a good singer, so try it without it. Well here----- Try singing it 100-150 times until you nail it, even with alt. takes cut & paste, and see how that works. OK, I've over emphasized the amount of takes, but I think you know what I'm saying.Basically, the vocals have that talentless Lincoln Park vibe, and you're obviously better than that. They use it because they HAVE too. (Wankers.)The bottom line is my music is much different than yours, so my opinion means squat. Except to say, you're very talented & will absolutely get some forwards with this type of stuff. Lots of listings for these type of tunes. Just tighten it up. Don't be afraid to re-write & re-mix. Especially re-mix....Just slightly......Wade
