Alright mates! I've been finally able to get my butt back into the studio to get some production work done. I've been busting hump working/rehearsing with my local band and doing solo performances I just havn't had the extra mental energy to create! Oh by the way I must have done something right opening for Goldy MicJohn and the Steppenwolf thing cause they are billing me to open again for them on Valentine's Day... If that wasn't enough I've gone to lunch and tossed a few emails around with Goldy and he has given the open door to co-producing with me AND doing keyboard/organ tracks for me friends and contacts. Now we've agreed to do a dry run and see how it goes but if all goes as it should this is going to be an amazing development... So, more on that soon... Ok on with this tune, does this tune rock? Does it suck? Share with me your thoughts and help me make it a GREAT tune or trash it. Heya Will... congrats on the new developments!This tune might make for an okay music bed in it's current state, though (and I know this is a rough... but) I think you really ought to EQ those guits some more to bring the top end down. Also, the rest of the mix could use some kickin' up... but the basics are there, I believe! If you want this to be a fuller instrumental, I think you'll want to shake it up a bit, as the melody is pretty repetitive. I would try using different effects to add some interest and possibly a break down section of some kind.... but if this will eventually turn into a song, then you don't have to worry about that so much. It's got some southern rock moments a la Black Crows (maybe too exact of a phrase with the triple triplet runs) with a hint of AC/DC... good transitions between sections... I say it's worth working on!

Major congrats on the concert announcements...woo-hoo!Good song aside, the listing will dictate if this is the right fit.More often then not, they ask for lots of build and dynamic changes, as Zoom has totally pointed out. Taking a rock bed (sans vox) and giving them the repetitive motif is a harder fit. Can you post the listing you're eyeing...or is this a "getting one ready for the next rock instrumental listing" song?

Yes on the "eqing" of the guitars, in fact now that I've been away from it for awhile the tones of the lead guitar need tweeking and one of the rhythm guitar tracks, good ears zoom...

Yeah...gits are very brittle and harsh sounding.To my ear this is more classic rock then modern.Much bigger drum sounds needed for modern.Also sounds like a wrong bass note at :14 that repeats with the section.Keep at it!

Man, you say they're "billing you to open on Valetine's day?" That doesn't seem fair . . . I think THET should pay YOU! You need to tighten this up a bit I think. The above advice is good . . . just mess with it some, it'll come around.

hey willie!!keep up the "developments!"i hear great possibilities with this they may come off as "modern", but just in the "verse"--especially when the verse will be SUNG..., the chorus does sound more "classic" rock for sure, not "modern" but when it gets to what i'll call your "other" lead "bridge" way later, you might think about highlighting that cool joint as your chorus, as it is more of a modern sound. your chorus now is more stones like to me, which is cool, but not "modern"i'm sorry i can't tell you "where" that "new" chorus is exactly...you'll know what i mean though--my friggin new computer still isn't set up to show me the TIMING as the tune plays--it's a quicktime thing for me i have to fix.great start though, keep at it, it's in "there"...wh

Hey wta....Cool tune... couple of things I've gleaned on the genre from the boards/screeners...Guitar tone needs to be darker.... humbuckers is what BBB said somewhere (he also mentioned an open C tuning ) ... the distortion is thin... needs meat.... hard panned doubled rhythmn tracks was another thing....Sectional difference.... breaking up the sections by dropping out drums/changing time/beat... that type of thing....Dig that choruys riff!!!!Good luck with it...Peace, Geo

OK - there's definitely potential here. The guitars are hot. Maybe the eq will be ok if you back em down and let the bass and drums come out more. You'll just have to work it a bit. I can't imagine that it will be long before you've got lyrics for it - but in the mean time you might add a really honking keyboard or sax to break it up a little.Rock On,Kitz

I hear that kitz, a cool rock organ thing during the verse maybe cool... The guitar tones have been an experiment. I have a new costom tele and a new Fender PA 135 Tube amp so I'm trying to find my tones and so this new tune is as much an effort to find me tones as it is to create commercial art. Its funny how different a guitar can sound live verses it being recorded! Bear with me as I wrestle with it but if I hear the gereral concensus, the tune is worth working on so lets make this puppy into a scary good rock tune shall we? Thank you my friends...
