Wow, nice job, Mark!I'd bring the vocals up a bit; they're golden and tend to get lost in the track just bit. Also, you may want to boost the bottom end a bit (but obviously not as high as we do on modern recordings). Otherwise, this is a real gem.

Re: Nowhere Man
Hell yes, Gaunce. I kinda sorta imitated McCartney's very rambling and hard-to-pin-down bassline on this one, and I used a Rick like he did, but I know for a fact you'd nail it. So sure...why don't you download the track, lay down a bassline and shoot it to me? It's all for fun anyway. Thanks Jonathanm...I lack monitors so I'm always a bit blind about the mix. Not sure if I should boost low end or cut high end...but I'll nudge up the vocals. Thanks again!

Re: Nowhere Man
Thanks Billy! Bill G, I guarantee the recording was the Rick, although he always used the Hofner live. I saw the proof once but can't remember where...Lewisohn or that Beatle Gear book...can't remember. Here's one source, but they don't cite from where:http://www.thebeatlesonline.com/pages/b ... n.htmLooks like this was the first time he used the Rick on a recording.

Re: Nowhere Man
As Nowhere Man is one of my fav Beatles tracks that I haven't listened to in a while I thought I would offer my expectations as I listen,so,Vocally a great start but the swoop up to (real) took a fraction longer than the Beatles and made it sound a bit laboured, the backing vox on nowhere man sound a tiny bit pitchy(the ooohs and la la la's)the only real criticism is the bass,If you say McCartney played a Rick then he played a Rick but I remember it being a wooly sound like his Hofner and I think he played a lot of eigth notes.Having said all the negative stuff had I heard this instead of The Beatles I would have loved it!!! It really is cool.I.m gonna listen to The Beatles now and see if I.m right. Michael.
