Hi,Here's a country-rock song that I hope some will listen to and comment on. I had problems with the song url on my prior post. I think this one will work.
http://www.prenticephoto.com/band/SGD%2 ... s.RandySun Goes Down OR... You and MeWide open desert skiesIts damn hot, I drive a big truck with soda popMy day will end its just a matter of whenGot too much time to thinktoo much time spent lookin' back at where I've beenI ride a dotted line that leads to youI'll renew...next to you...on the back porch swingIt's you and me and the sun going downThat's where I'd rather be When I'm feelin' lost, this is where I'll be foundWatching the sun go downNever mind the heatNever mind that my new boots are kinda' tightI'm counting mile signs that lead to homeMy home...I'll be there...when the shadows grow longYou and me and the sun going downThat's when my hope returnsForget about the day and the things that went wrongWatching the sun go down and down and down==instrumentalThe sky is bleeding red, putting the day to bedforget about town, we're stayin' home tonightYou and me and the sun going downIt's where I need to beThe world keeps changin around and aroundbut the sun still goes down and down and down and down and downHolding hands, when the sun's going downturn off the cell, don't bother me now We'll watch from the spot, where we fell in loveas the sun drops lower, lower Come on, come on and set me free

iceman,The link worked this time. You didn't say your intended usage for the song, so I'm not sure how to focus my comments.Great intro. The instruments are well played and recorded; I think you've captured a good vibe, but I'd say southern rock, not country rock. Loved the guitar break. I think "You and Me" is a more compelling message/title than "Sun Goes Down.To me, the vocal might be an acquired taste. It's certainly distinctive, but seems to be limited in range and expressiveness. If you're pursuing a career as an artist, that'd be a consideration, but of course, there've been many singers who have made a living with "imperfect" voices!Good job on the song.Vince

Hi Vince, Thanks for listening. I did get the link in my prior post working. I think the problem was improper checkbox settings on my taxi music page.I have to say that I agree with you on all counts. I'm a better guitar player than a singer. I thought about getting someone else to sing it and I still may do that. Or else, or change my decadent life style (that's an easy one--ha,ha). My drummer insists that I sing it -- on the grounds of distinctiveness -- God bless him. And I agree with you about the title, You and Me is more compelling than Sun Goes Down...a simple fix there. Thanks again for the ears.Randy (Southern Rock Boy)

Randy, You are an excellent guitarist. Impressive. I also think that this song falls more in a souther rock sound than country rock. Country rock I hear still having pop/country flavors but with some teeth. And your song is very .38 Special, southern rock sounding. I also think the chorus is not "big" enough for country. Maybe if you worked on the chorus and raising it a bit, then it would qualifiy as a country rock? Good tune man, thanks for posting.Andy

Good song & playing Randy! My $0.02 is only that, and offered for you to use as you see fit:- I think going with "You and Me" as the title would work. As long as you make sure that anyone hearing the song is going to assume that's your hook, I'd play it up.- I would repeat the "You and Me" at the end of your chorus as an additional tag...the space is there to re-inforce the hook.- Finding a way to pop the chorus more would be really helpful....and I don't know how to suggest that, because I'm always told to do the same thing. I'm on my third listen now...I really like this tune! Congrats for getting that nice ending in before 3:40, even with your great intro.
