Below is a song I played/produced for an artist. I'm interested in your opinions on whether this could be a good match for this listing. I figured there are many here who are "retro" schooled. Thanks much!============================================ARTISTS INFLUENCED BY THE 60s BRITISH INVASION STYLE are wanted by a reputable Indie Label with National/International Distribution, for single track licensing and/or single album deals. They'll be looking for "retro" (NO MODERN/ALT ROCK!) artists that look and sound like the referenced style/era. Think in the range of The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who, The Searchers, The Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark Five, etc. This label is specifically looking for artists with a sound and image that has authenticity/believability, along with GREAT material and performances. Please submit two to three songs online or per CD, include Photo/Bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than December 5, 2008. http://www.broadjam.com/transmit/index. ... ndsq=1well vince .... tho I dig the sound, vibe and song - I sorta doubt that this is the sound they're looking for ... to me, this is more the seppo ('merican) answer to that invasion ...right era really, wrong side of the pond to my ears cus I get no beatles, who, kinks, stones, etc from it at all ... and when I say none, I mean really none. I can name a few stateside bands it would maybe match up to but .... sorry, I'd say not. save this one for something a bit more straight forward R&B rock that has something 60's pop oriented for a need.

hey Vince, I have a lot of forwards AND returns for 60'- 70's style stuff and what I've found is that the screening can be pretty picky on these. I think songwise you "could" be in the ballpark but soundwise probably not. Without a major re-do you might be able to tweak production to get a "spencer davis" group sound . . . although it's not one of the "ala" groups it might be worth a try ( to me they weren't really British sounding but maybe a screener would hear it differently). You could easily get the bass, drums, b3 and vocal sound in post by using "gimme some lovin' as a template. The other problem (and why I'm not submitting to this) is that they are looking for the whole package . . . looks, image etc.

hey vince,I agree with CJ. There's definitely some retro vibe, but I don't hear the British 60's in there except a bit of those turn-around chords on the lyric "...how I feel about you.." right before the chorus.I think the recording and production are strong and clean though! What I'd like to see is a make-it-sound-like-the-60's plug-in so we can instantly get those vintage sounds, ha ha! Good luck.

Vince, Love the vocals!!! Seems to be a little overproduced for the 60's sound. Make it RAW but leave the vocals alone - they sound great. All the instruments need more attack - i don't know if you applied reverb but if you did - take it off, compression? - take it off. The instruments need to bite and bite hard!! Great licks on the B3 but it seems to have a soft sound rather than that nerve grinding sound of the 60's. As mentioined Gimme Some Lovin would be a great template for this.Don't know if it will match the listing but I like it!!Kitz

Good advice, thanks everybody.Kitz, I'll call up the mix to see what I did with it. This song was part of an album, so I might have done some things to help match the sound/feel of the other songs.V>

this sounds more like the kind of stuff that came out in the early 70s....brit-invasion-influenced stuff like raspberries....the harmonies are too tidy, the chorus sounds like "some kinda wonderful". even the bass sounds wrong. to me the only obvious signpost screaming 60s is the stevie-winwood-style organ part.
